Trouble with Headset

I am using a Logitech ClearChat Style headset. It does not use USB ports. For some odd reason, my computer does not even recognize the device. I've tried plugging it into both the front and back jacks, but neither side works. However, I have another ClearChat Style headset that works just fine on my brother's computer. I'd like to see if any of you guys could help me get my mic working. My sound card is Realtek AC'97 Audio if that matters.

Do you have the drivers installed for your card?

The sound card is on board i think. And the driver should recognise it automaticaly and a window should popup telling you that the computer detected at least something that you plugged into the mic input. Did you tryed the same headset at your brothers pc? Maybe update your drivers could help.

Are you using two different audio output devices? OnBoard & SoundBlaster (or w/e)

Do the audio jacks work with other headphones?

Are you using the correct driver?

Code: Select all

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio > Audio(tab) > Select the correct drivers from the drop down menus (sound playback & sound recording)
sure you've not got them turned right down or something silly?

Code: Select all

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio > Audio(tab) > Volumes (sound playback & sound recording)
Mute the mic but turn it up full... if you don't mute it you'll hear yourself (you can unmute it to test that it works tho)

Check your voice drivers are the same as well...also run the hardware test.

Code: Select all

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio > Voice(tab)
Basically just make sure all your drivers are set to the same
