Yeah I missed the 2x2 gigs, only read that as 2 gigs..confused? yeah awesome. lol But I'm using a DX 10 card with xp and running DX 9 ...blah blah...not sure what it does, but I run DM fair enough. lol

Yeah it would be nice to actually have 4 gigs of ram seen...lol maybe XP will fix that sometime?

So they say the 9600 offers great performance than a comparable 8 series? So does that mean this card is better than the 8800GT. Im confused lol, so cheap yet so good?

s0iz

2008-03-15 19:08:01

I don't think it has better perfomance than a 8800GT, but it is smaller and unexpensive.

It costs 134USD on newegg.com and it has a 90% more perfomance than 8600GTS!

I recommend an SLi of Dual 9600GT ftw!

That sucks considering I paid around $160 USD and I have an 8600GTS :|
If I would've known that I would've went with a 9600GT :|

I have read that Vista 64 can be big trouble.

s0iz

2008-03-15 20:42:39

Vista with Single-Core and 1GB is trouble.
Vista with Dual-Core and 2GB is stable.
Vista with Quad-Core and 4GB is AWESOME :D

I don't have the Quad-Core, tho ;(

But Vista64 works amazingly with 4 gigs :)

Well, there are definite problems with Quads, 4gig Ram, and Vista 64.

Some MBs will not boot with 4 gigs installed and Vista64.
Some cannot get Vista 64 to install at all.
Some have compatibility issues with Quads, 4 gigs AND Vista 64.
All cannot get ITunes, Photoshop and other apps to work in Vista 64.
Some cannot get XFI cards to work at all in Vista 64.
You will probably have to pay for Alchemy drivers.

All i am saying is check out all your components and their compatibility before you build.

4 gig is overkill.
Unless you do some major computing, 4 gig and Quads will just sit there unused.
Vista 64 is fraught with problems.

Good Luck

For using a 64-bit SO you need 4GB. Of course you can use it without them, but it's not the same.

About drivers, every company is making their drivers for Vista, specially nVidia/ATi (x32/x64)

If Creative is not making them. Well, it's time for e-mailing =D

Even Razer has drivers for x64.

The only un-usable computers for Home users are Servers like X8-X16-X32 or NASA/Government computers. A Quad-Core could be fully used easily.

The only reason of why I didn't get a Quad-Core was because their not suitable for my pocket. Q6600 is affordable but it's "old", 65nm technology and it has a FSB of 1066.

The 45nm Quad-Cores from Intel cost ~3,000USD in newegg.com - If I want to get one of those here it would be like ~5,000USD or even more. That's not reasonable at all!

And remember, not since a year ago; Dual-Core computers were thought "un-usable" too ;)
Even Source Engine is beeing modified for using Multi-Core systems! :D

I recomend buying a fan controller if you do because the case comes with 5 fans and when they and your preocessor fan plus graphics fan are running 100% it gets ratehr noisey.
I bought this 1, it works pretty good too but you may want to change the connectors on the actual fans as they are molex type and the controler are 3pin fan type, makes it look neater.

I hope your machine runs perfectly but i was not talking about drivers. i was saying Motherboards are having problem with 4g and Vista 64 and some progs still do not work on Vista 64.

I agree it is nice to have quad cores and 4 gig but i am talking about making sure your latest MB and Bios checks out with Vista 64 and your RAM is compatible.
its to do with the latest bus and Intel quads running Vista 64 with 4 gig installed.

I don't make this up. Google it and see what you get for problems concerning the combo of latest Intel Quads, Vista 64, certain MBs and BIOS, and certain ram combos.

I do have a 64-bit machine, man ;D

Also, my mobo is Vista ready buddy, and supports Quad-Core, DDR3 and new processors with FSB 1600MHz.

Read it again. Vista 64 is a 64 bit executable program. You must be running XP 64 to execute it.
At least that is what i have read.

Not trying to rain on your parade but you are on the cutting edge of Tech and there is hardly any reason to ask for those headaches.

2008-03-18 05:12:51

LOL? WinVista64 doesn't need XP at all :D

That must be oldy :)
