All these "recorders" like fraps will make you lag, the process of converting into video is very CPU intensive.

for non-Source games I couldn't tell you for sure, but ZD Soft Game Recorder looks like your best bet. http://www.zdsoft.com/game-recorder/

FRAPS is more like CRAPS

Don't use fraps.
First record your matches on demos (.dem files) using the command:
record "demo_name_here" on console.
After you finish playing, use the demoui with shift +f2 to see the demo, and while watching it, use the in game feature to record.
