Disabling secondary fire on Xbow...

How do I do that?? When in fight, I get excited and BAM! I am in scope.. and I loose the fight. I never scope, so why do I need it? Is there a way to disable it? PLUS couldn't i just zoom if I ever needed it?

Thanks!

You can just zoom if you have toggle zoom bound. The only way to disable it without disabling other weapons is to write a script which is not legal in most HL2DM leagues and most servers frown on it. The better option is just to learn to control yourself. After all everyone gets excited and makes mistakes the ability to control that is a skill that good gamers have, if learn to control your excitement you will become a better gamer in more areas then just xbow zoom.

Do you have a Razer Copperhead? Used to do that with that little thing.
The only real solution may be to practice a little mouse control, don't get so excited and stop spamming Mouse 2 when in battle. You wouldn't want to disable it, would you? The Horror! No Bow zoom?!?!?
No long range snipes. Unthinkable.

Pomp this happens to me too. Its very annoying but not worth disabling it. I use xbow zoom sometimes and it is useful. I agree with Fear and Impala, we both need to calm down and develop more control.

Wow I NEVER thought I'd see Xena in hl2uni..

I like trying to bhop while zoomed in, you have to kinda move the mouse around the whole table really fast

They are right though, only logical solution is control :P

I find xbow secondary fire to be a problem when i do a fast swap from xbow to ggun, hit secondary and end up zooming in on whatever i wanted to catch before it kills me. Annoying, and not easy to prevent since its due to ping-related slow weapon switching response, so the only real solution would be to react slower, which is no solution at all. I end up doing the same thing with smgnades once in a while as well, which is generally just as fatal although it often manages to take the opponent with me.

I fear the only way is as said would eto use a script. When i played HL1DM i used a scriipt to switch the gauss frimary and secondary fires so i pressed mouse 1 to charge up instead of 2course that did the same for all other weapons unless you added an alias to each weapon bind.
Add this to autoexec.

Code: Select all

alias -bowzoom "use weapon_crossbow; unbind mouse2"
alias +bowzoom "bind mouse2 +attack2"
So for your xbow bind -bowzoom and for all others add +bowzoom e.g

Code: Select all

bind "e" "-bowzoom"//crossbow

Code: Select all

bind "f" "use weapon_physcannon;+bowzoom"
Now i have no idea if it will work becasue i am typing this from my bed on my PS3 so have not tested it also my scripting skills are limited
Crap u beat me to it :)

Why over complicate it, as far as i can see they do the same thing in exactly the same manner.

ok.. well it has been a problem only since I started using a REAL mouse (Razer diamondback) I guess they are sensitive that even a small tap will send me there, maybe if it would not lock in place? Well I am working on mellowing out, I am too aggressive and don't know when to back out of a fight. All of this is part of my training I suppose... I am VERY spastic still, especially since I cant tell the difference in the keys, I have reduced sensitivity in my left hand due to nerve damage. I have to figure something out. I am not going the way of the script, I wanna be 100% legit and be as icy cool as fearsome, whom (by the way) I always just wanna hug :P

oh man, i do that all the time with the smg nades. it drives me nuts. it's gotten to the point where i try to use smg nades right away.

A little late, but this seems to me be a problem with Razer mice rather than anything else. You should be able to rest your fingers on the mouse buttons, not having to use your muscles to not make a click. At least the Copperhead I've tried seemed dangerous to use in the long run. Logitech ftw!

Jelly Fox

2008-05-12 16:17:59

I can rest my fingers on my Deathadder without clicking. Might be an issue with the Copperhead but it's certainly not a Razer one.

It does seem to be much more of an issue with a gaming mouse, since they may just be more sensitive. I am trying to be learn to not hit it and its been about 2 months with a mouse now so it has gotten much better, I had also switched hands so my right hand was just clicking anything at the begining.

Thanks for all the help!!~~

She was playing left hand on mouse, and has since switched to right hand on mouse iirc. If I understand her correctly she is saying it took time to adjust to swapping hands in order to not accidentally right click.

Yeah has been, well I learned on a lefty's set up and didnt think I would care, I had never played games before so since it was a new skill I knew I could do it (good brain remaping and why I started gaming) Well 9 months later and getting serious I realized it was the whole reason I could not jump, so I wanted a re-do and started all over again, new keyboard, new mouse, new hand.... had to relearn it all over again (not so fun brain remapping) I am just not starting to get comfortable, well was until my computer crapped out and lost my "perfect" config and have to start with that all over again *sigh* I also lost my demos!!!! No I didnt back up.. knew I had a virus didnt want to infect anything else until I felt the virus was totally gone, well that never happen. :sketchy:

Grrrrr...

I know it's easy to say now, but mail yourself your config. That way you not only have a backup, but also a way to quickly get started if you ever find yourself wanting to play at another computer somewhere.
