honestly, how prevalent is hacking in this game?

^^
I've only seen proof of 1 hacker, the one in this thread: http://www.hl2dm-university.com/forum/p ... t+a+hacker

How many real, noshit hackers have you seen?

I've only ever seen one definite hacker, it was on a low grav server and this one guy was pinging about the place at a thousand vel head shotting everyone as they were floating about.

I couldn't spec on the server so I didn't record a demo. And I didn't know how to do the status thing so I didn't get his ID... not like it mattered because he changed his name to match other players names anyway :o

Eventually everyone got annoyed and left the server to get away from him.

I caught a guy on one of our servers back in the spring of 2005. Everytime somebody spawned it was a headshot (killbox mind you). no spec back in that day. Only one I've seen.

In my time I have seen roughly 6 people that used blatant hacks while pubbing. ie. 100% aimbot or speedhacks. One guy we banned 20+ times from the Fusion server because he kept coming back with a different ID. He was using 100% HS aimbot so it was pretty clear.

I have also seen maybe 10 videos or demos of people hacking posted in various places that I would call blatant.

Paradox

2008-04-09 22:01:42

I have only seen one person I suspected of an aimbot of some kind because he was headshoting people with
the pistol and killing people (not noobs) who were shooting him with a shotty and mag. When I tried to spectate him he stopped.

I have seen a few speedhax.

I know of a few people that have scripts for combining sprint, jump and crouch in an attempt to jump. It is an easy bind to pick out as it just looks jerky and lame. Maybe its a bad bind, I don't know but, they really aren't harder to kill with it. It doesn't give them an advantage especially agianst a legit jumper/hopper so its kinda useless.

I'm positive on at least 3. The vid above, a regular player on a low grav server (spins in mid-air w/o animation...followed by headshot) I no longer frequent, and a guy from a fairly well known clan (but I think he got kicked out) that has no representation on this forum. I'm not going to list names here to avoid any flaming shit.

I think it might be more prevalent than we think. As I understand the aimbots, there are a variety of settings? Like, level 5... guarenteed headshot every time! Level 1, some headshots, but might take two shots instead of one. Maybe only certain weapons can be turned on/off. Pure speculation on my part.

old time no.7

2008-04-09 22:24:35

only seen one confirmed. guy was posting the URL for them too until he got kicked.

compared to counter-strike where i'd see a hacker every other server i'd play in. doods spining in circles-boom hs... and wall hacking like crazy.

makes me kinda happy this game is under apreciated as the people who write hacks didn't do them for this game?
or is it more of this circle of players is so small you can't just do something without being noticed...?

Funny stuff, the only time I've seen a hacker was pretty ironic. I was in TWC and someone said that I was speed hacking (they most likely had no concept of hops..), and some other guy ran up to us and said, "Coke's not speed hacking, I am", and then he just starts running around at like 4 times regular speed, that was also the funniest experience I've had in hl2dm, the way it was presented by him.

I think there's a video of something similar to that somewhere on youtube.... shows a guy running normally (not bhopping) at like 2000 vel on a low grav server getting headshots left and right from across the map.

I think all ya'll hack and i am getting a special promo deal on Phoenix Aimbot Detection software from twpiaa.com for only $399.00! I'm looking especially at those leaping monkeys in FLAS!

Saw this guy on TSGK Lockdown spinning, moving ridiculously fast, with a ridiculously fast aimbot that didn't even work. It shot the wall next to me everytime and i Gnaded that ****er several times, causing a deep sense satisfaction and win.

I'm not too surprised considering that you lead the clan who held the most popular server for over two years.

Source hacks work for every source game. HL2DM is just too unpopular for it to become a prime target for griefers and hackers. Heck, the worst griefers are probably us. We ruin the game experiences of the lesser skilled by pwning them :(.

I have never seen a confirmed hacker in hl2dm so far  but i seen a feew in HL2CTF when for a brief period VAC was disabled for all mods so they had free run. :9

i saw three model hacks back in the day, 2 headcrabs and 1 filecabinet, 1 Speed hacker in some random pub, 1 AimBotter in the War room I thought he was Col. Kurtz post a demo of him. He would walk in a room with a smg and take out 5 people in one clip... And some Random in a UK server.

0 confirmed...but I have had one friend tell me that another friend had an aimbot and that was the reason he left the clan...so 1 likely.. 0 actual hackers.

Although after the shit on the SD vid I would venture to say that as a clan I bet they get the most accusations lol.
