The subject of aliasing was brought up in another post and it makes me wonder how common it actually is.

Do you either alias under your current Steam account or do you have a separate account for this. Im not asking for a list of names or steam id numbers, just if you do it, why you do it or why you think its wrong or not good for the game to do it.

I do have two steam accounts, but I stick with the name I use on both. They are not the same, but I don't change.

I have on occasion done it in game, but that was just to mess with other clan m8s. But I always join a server without aliasing.

I probably alias at least 20 times within one hour. Same steam acct.

I alias. I have a little fun with different stupid names or when i drinking, i alias. Sometimes i forget or too lazy to change it and surf some servers.

Don't see anything wrong with it.
In a way, you can sometimes figure who it is by their style and movement and tactics.
I don't care who it is that is aliasing. I just play.
I know some don't like it...ahem.

I don't alias too often. But it seems lately that when I join some pubs people vanish before I even get a chance to play. I suspect some folks just see any clan tag and decide to gtfo.

I've used:
rhymes with deloris
headless chicken
jessica biels pierced vagoo
heather mills stump

Sometimes I do. I have other steam accounts, but I only use them when I'm on a top secret mission.

Usually my aliases have WT_ in front, or at least the Fusion tag, so it's not hard to figure out.

I've been aliasing lately (meaning christmas and spring break, lol) because when I get the chance to play I suck total ass. I would rather make an attempt at saving face and just throw some silly name up there. Shunnyboy saw through my disguise however and we 1v1'd, resulting in a hit to my street cred

I always let everyone know who I am eventually. I only change my name mid-game to tell a joke or bypass getting llama'd by stupid plug-ins and admins.

i do sometimes but i never go into a server just so snoop around ill always just change it mid game for some dumb reason then stop playing and forget i still have it on then ill join a server then im back to that guy

Well I will admit that I alias once in a while too, but I do it with a seperate account that has no friends on it. Normally I just pick a random name out of the air so I dont have one name that people can recognize. I do it because sometimes its just nice to play without anyone knowing who you are or being IMed every 5 minutes. I originally got the steam id to check up on some of our other divisions servers to make sure things were running smoothly or when people told me there were issues going on that I needed to know about. I dont use them for malicious behavior like some people do, just when I kinda want to be left alone.

I use to alias, now I don't care... people alias on the servers I admin at, I usually call them on it.. specially if its REALLY obvious like a couple of days ago when someone named "Pump" logged on (shoulda been Pumptato

), then before I knew it the whole server was POMP this or pomp that, was funny and I usually do not mind it if they come clean when called on it.

in re: to tags that clear a server, yup ... a lot of people leave if they see soemone with clan tags.
