LAG

I have always thoght lag was to do with internet connection, now more and more I see threads everywhere (not here) like
"Extreme lag" "
only to find out it is their computer that basically sucks and cannot handle the game (whatever the game may be) are people being misinformed or am I just lagging behind .

Yeah a lot of the time it probably is the computer, but its hard to spend all that money just to find out when it might not be.

LAG is the time it takes for your PC to communicate and receive back packets in game. Its a crappy connection thing.
Low Frame Rates is a crappy PC.

Low frames per second causes lag also. If your video card cant keep up with the action, you will lag. Other causes for lag are configuration issues, internet connectivity, server side overload, or server side configuration issues. Usually when I lag, it is server side issues causing me to lag. If you have net graph 3 up, alot of servers can't handle the load they are set at and the update rate (which is probably the most important setting since this updates everyone's position on the map) drops like a rock; sometimes it drops so low on some servers, people are teleporting all over the place or your weapon won't fire because of the excessively low update rate (usually below 15 update rate).
