cable vs DSL

Cable is faster than DSL. Avantage or no?

Depends on a few factors. Cable will get faster speeds quoted, but may suffer when traffic is heavy on shared lines (or so I'm told). For me it came down to stability, I had DSL but it would drop me frequently, even after much tech support, making sure DHCP was switched off etc etc. Cable is solid, I no longer drop in matches, all I need now is a PC that doesn't make the game look like a slo-mo scene from the matrix. :mrgreen:

cable for me is 1000x better than dsl ever was, and I had like the best dsl you can get at one point.

DSL = Damn Slow Lag

Cable ftw.

FIOS ftw. When you consider dsl comes in on phone lines and consider the ancient crappy infrastructure of phone lines... I used to have DSL and a phone line that sounded so horrible, noise, dropouts... what a mess.
Then Road Runner was mighty fine. Super clean and reliable.

Slow-Mo would be Hax. :D

I have Cable, it's reliable, and decently fast, but I went from Dial-Up straight to cable, so I can't talk down DSL or Fios. :D

Oh trust me a year ago from today they were HORRIBLE.

But that's not the case now my internet is highly stable and reliable, I have yet to try their 18 meg modem because it's overpriced but I'm sure it's fine too.

Charters only problems these days are the prices in Michigan could use a bit of a lowering, although the customer service has changed drastically for the better, no more calls to India trying to argue with a guy that doesn't have any clue what you're getting at.

Nice bandwidth in your sig. You have to be on ADSL2 or VDSL to be getting those speeds. Very few companies in the states roll out the higher-speed DSL protocols, and those that do have ridiculous prices or intentionally do things that instantly add >50 ms lag (I'M LOOKING AT YOU AT&T)

European ISP are great, and they are ver unexpensive.

You right, ADSL2+ is very expensive. You can call my ISP provider and say you want the plan for companies, and they bring you a new modem, with bigger uploads and better routing but the price is insane.

What I am talking about is a line with 5Mbps up and down, costs like 700 USD per month here.
