Live within a 1200 mile radius of Vancouver BC? Thinking of buying a used guitar soon? I've had 2 guitars, a bass, and a practice amp stolen, along with my 4 runner from right outta my driveway. I have serial numbers for two of the instruments:

- 1994 Fender American Strat, antique white, white pickguard, blask JB hotrail in bridge position, rosewood fretbd, ser # 375946

- Late 90s Fender STandard J-bass, antique white, rosewood fretboard, ser# M21110640

This is a total long shot I know but I don't have a lot of options. Police aren't all that helpful, they won't accept the ser #s of the guitars because they were in the vehicle at the time. There's definitely a reward involved too.

Thieving bastards, however, you shouldn't leave valuables in your vehicle unattended.
Police won't do anything they have better things to do like catch motorists speeding or stopping people from filming in public places

Sorry to hear about this theft. I had a 1965 Lseries Strat and 1970 Marshall Superlead stolen from me years ago.
They would be worth a lot of money now.

Hope you get them back.

If you have serials, canvass the pawn shops.
Never underestimate the stupidity of criminals.
The car?
Probably not at a pawn shop.

That must be harsh... If anyone would steel my guitar and amp they wouldn't go well served, but I would be out of anything to play with. It would be really annoying.
But a Strat... omfg.

If you have any (friendly) connections with any "bandits" you can always ask for their help. They will be pretty much aware of who came up with what lately.
It's what we do here (portugal). It works most of the times and the robbers may even get spanked.

...but this is a small country.

Its highly unlikely someone came across this stuff in your 4 runner unless they were stealing a car.
What i mean is, thieves covet things they see. So, i could very well be someone you know or someone in your neighborhood that has seen your stuff.

Unless, like i said, they just saw your car and coveted that shit.
Make sure you give serials and description to police.
