What a piece of crap. I only installed it to check my mouse settings and change a few things on the onboard memory but to get it to work I had to "associate" it with the OS and doing so resets all onboard memory to factory defaults, luckily I had backups of all my profiles and such so it was easy to restore but OMG what a piece of garbage software this is. I have never had to install it since the first time i used it to set up my mouse back in November 2007.

I allways thought that logitech gaming mice felt really shit without the software, and never had any trouble with it myself -.^

Razer software is better though as ong as u keep the one profile.

What i need, is a massive fuckin mouse pad, my desk is chuffed like a motha fucker, hard on the aim recently. Maybe i should start a thread about that XD

yeah I never had any problems with setpoint either.
But razer death adder took me away from logi and I'm never going back.
As for the mat check out the goliathus control from razer, I like it and its big.

Setpoint is worthless crap. I think i will go back to Razer, if it can retain its drivers.
This G5 is not as good as my 518 nor my Copperhead.

lol why would you install setpoint

keefy

You need to install it if you want to upload settings to the mouse :( after that yes I uninstalled it an has been for over a year until now. I complained to Logitech about it.

hmm, reading this i thought Great, i finally found the reason to my problems. but no. this isn't it.
i have a G9. its awesome. had it for over a year now. before that i had the Mx518. both are great and really the G9 is proly the best mouse i've seen to date.
Recently, the mouse started "freezing" randomly. out of nowhere the leds on it would disapear and the mouse is completely frozen. no updates or anything new on the system. just like that on its own.
At first i thought it was indeed a mouse problem and went ahead and installed updates from anywhere starting from Windows to motherboard to Logitech but the problem is still there.
Then, i went and hooked up a different USB mouse. a MS mouse. same problem. hmm.
Removed this SetPoint thingie today after reading this thread and still no joy. i think someit is messed up in the USB 2.0 dept. at a brick wall.

Could always try a cheap add in usb 2.0 PCI card (then plug into that) and see if that helps, they usually run around 10.00 usd

Some of the mice like the G5 if you want to utilize all the features like the tilting scroll wheel (which I used to love) you have to install the setpoint.

last time i updated my setpoint the new version didnt work so i had to go back to the original version from the cd. the updated setpoint didnt recognize my mouse and the buttons that would have taken me to the mouse settings simply werent there.

I'm using a G9, and sometimes Setpoint doesn't auto-switch the profile when it should. That's the only problem I've had with it. It's the version from the original CD (which is pretty dang old - basically first batch).

SND

done. USB 2.0 isn't in the drivers pack. :sketchy:

I found when I used setpoint implementation it kept changing somehow, its hard to explain but it kept messing my sens up big time. Then theres the fact that if you take your mouse to a different computer you can easuily set up the OS to eb the same without installign anything.

Eh I stopped using setpoint because it caused nothing but problems. I control mouse settings with OS, CPL mousefix and the in game settings/config.

i used to blame setpoint for my g5 issues. but, after returning my third g5 in three months i came to the conclusion the g5 has cord issues.

i went to an mx518 with setpoint and have had no issues. like blackraven, i've found the OS setting to be trouble free.

If setpoint is giving you troubles, your doing something wrong, this is coming from a long term setpoint user, until recently.

Full stop dont even bother arguing XD
Used it with xp and vista 64 bit.

ORLY
If you use a G9 and setpoint 5.1 Logitech have released a patch to fix the DPI switching to default when you reboot or log off.
Iif you do not use a G9 then this does not apply also if you use a G9 but using setpoint 5.0 then this does not apply either.
more info here

Deathwish

or you can just be not lazy and change the DPI using the buttons? who cares if you have to do it every time your comp starts?
