Chicken or Egg ... musically

For me, it's always been the music fits the mood. But I was wondering if others were able to fit their mood to the music?

It can be either one or both for me depending on how strong the mood is.

I don't listen to music.

I like to listen to a lot of new music, but I have to be in a certain mood to do so. I also listen to certain tracks to cheer me up...etc
