I need some help understanding what 1400 quid is in U.S. dollars first.....But if it comes to around $1600 or below I recommend the MSI GT725 or the Sagar NP5793 which they have at liquidated prices to move in the newer model coming in, both have stellar performance for price. The Sagar has a Nvidia 9800GTS and the MSI has a ATI 3850, both of which are great cards and more then enough for most games.

EDIT:: Acutally I used a currency converter and your budget can include these laptops too, the Arima W840/OCS Whitebook/Alienware M17, the Alienware version of this comp will be slightly more expensive but for the money buy the new Sagar NP5797 which has a Nvidia 280m, best graphics card out there right now.

I know this is off topic from the gaming laptops, which on I side note Id suggest the Gateway line of gaming laptops too which are around 1400 US dollars depending on what you are looking at, but why do they call it quid, if in general its pounds, or is quid the term of currency in your country?

shitty sound, but with good headphones is imho a non-issue

i have an XPS m1710, bought it 3 years ago. all LED lights still work.
still running pretty strong. i love the fact i can fold it up and it is out of the way. i do have a little buyers remorse about not getting more, but i think it was worth it.

two pieces of advice.
get a serious note book cooler. i have only replaced one part, the videocard as it got very hot if i played for more than 2 hours.

also get an external keyboard or a nostromo gaming pad. laptop keyboards do not hold up well to the over use of the WSAD key mashings.

good luck in your search.

Old Time's laptop is a solid choice that's more stylish. They just lowered the price on the Sager NP5793 with the Nvidia 9800 GTS even more and can be had at like $1400 with a WUXGA screen standard, just wowzies. That's probably the best deal period for price/performance out there ATM

Sorry to bring this back up but if your still looking Lead actually the best deal is a DELL XPS1730 with 9800GT SLI for $1600 US, which would be quite cheap in quid terms. Now that's something anyone here should consider hopping on like a cheap, good looking hooker if anyone else is looking as well.
