Forced Retirement

well i moved and now i am on dial up, no dsl, I'm 2 miles outta this town no cable out this far no wireless broadband reaches out this far so im stuck here and my new $2500 comp has no modem on it so its now a 64kg/+50lb paperwieght since i cant play hl2 sp or any sp mods without having a connection in the first place but i can play mp games

so i can go bore the hell outta myself on hl2dm create a server and even more so by starting up css and playin that slow @ss game

dude I know the feeling. I moved to a college that's blocked steam completely and won't let us have tv's until senior year, so....I feel your pain :evil: It's gonna suck not being able to play Ep2 or portal until thanksgiving.

Even though it's not the same, I was once without internet during vacations for near a month. I suffered, lol.

you cant run steam in offline mode? generally when my dsl ever went out i was able to run it in offline mode and play singleplayer at least. unless your pc needs to have steam update all the games and whatnot, then i could see where your problem is. best of luck to you neo.

Now days you have make sure property has broad band internet access with at least 2 competing companies (1 could really suck) just like you want to make sure it has public water and so on. I know of a guy who once moved just to get a better internet connection sold his house and bought a new one.
