For the same reasons from what I hear.

IMO he is one of the top soldiers if not the best in TF2.

Yea esea spec is down atm, tried watching the archived demos of some other of 20id's matches. Games so dumbed down skill wise from tfc I wanted to puke after watching a few minutes of it, not to mention extremely boring.

20ID won the esea-i championship last season, btw.

And ya, the execution level / skill ceiling is lower than tfc, just as css is a lesser game than cs, just as diablo 3 and starcraft 2 will likely be a good deal more nub / casual friendly than their predecessors. The general gaming population is now composed of people who want the equivalent of interactive television, and accordingly / unfortunately, hardcore games with steep learning curves tend to make for a bankrupt dev team. All things considered, i think the tf2 community can count itself lucky the game is playable at a competitive level at all (which, i should mention, it wasnt for the first few months it was out).

WT I suppose you mean only because of the Arena Mod instead of the team/vanilla version?

Ko, not WT ^

I do not think he is referring to arena, I believe he is referring to the numerous bug fixes and tweaks to gameplay that have been made. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Referring to the initial lack of cvars to disable random crits and damage spread. There were still leagues at that time, but the match results were a diceroll- unsurprising, considering a single lucky crit sticky could potentially ace the entire enemy team, and there would likely be a ton of such incidents in any given match.

Anyway, the game plays reasonably well competitively now, some class imbalances and unlock issues aside (and these are being worked on, with competitive players input no less). People wanting the equivalent of tfc:s should probably pick up fortress forever, though iirc its player base isnt much bigger than that of tfc.

Yeah my anger is more with how I picked up HL2DM to subside my wait for TF2, which I thought would be faithful to high skill, intense and constant fast paced play and totally ripped the guts out of the TFC playstyle of it's truly advanced individual play. Fortress Forever pretty much failed because like any 3rd party mod of a popular steam game it just never gained traction along with the fact it was released with some really bad bugs that were never ironed out by the unmotivated staff at FF to get the game working properly until months later, which by then a big chunk of the TFC community had given up on the game by the time they fixed them. Anyway this is what TF2 could've been, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAsxa0VqrF0 just imagine that engine with even better graphics and more unique adds by the steam devs. Vid takes awhile to load its huge.

I want tf2 to be more like this, seems way more fun but I have yet to find a popular server playing this mod...

Yeah the only problem is that the game is not designed around those speeds so it would probably fuck everything up. You would probably need to custom design maps for it. Looks like a lot of fun though.

I ran a server with that mod for about a month or so, I thought it was awesome and so did about 3 other people :?

if you like watching games being played on the internet check out

www.e-rev.tv

they are pretty professional, quality cast, and a huge archive.

mainly a CS, CoD, and L4D casting site. good stuff.

believe it or not, l4d is actually pretty decent to watch. I just like seeing who shoots the other in the back, plus they do some cool shit like jumping into peoples ventrillo at critcial moments of the game, giving you an idea how teams handle situations.

fun fun :?:

word says that the TF2 scene in the US is already dying out

the whole "erase hats from most players since a lot of people used idler (and of that 95% of the 'clean' population, many don't even play tf2)" doesn't help the competitive scene either since some people decided to delete their legit unlockables and whatnot

i think it's time to move onto wow 3v3 arenas lol

charles transfer to my server you+me+scar = unstopable

Charles

2009-09-05 16:17:48

if you wanna pay for transfer sure :P

i don't really wanna pay any additional real money or invest hours on raiding on WoW anymore, so i'm gonna have to pay gold from now on for game cards if i wanna play again :(

and go re-roll mage/rogue for RMP!

3.2 arena is not bad, but yes RMP is still the best.

Charles

2009-09-06 06:19:23

not bad? hm

my brother's back to wow (no more raiding), i may follow

i hope i can actually find a decent rogue and mage once i transfer horde

and fffffffffff- furious shoulders are badge-obtainable, so i guess getting 2050 with war/priest was all for nothing since i can't say "hur dur im gud look at mah gear" anymore.

Expect continuous nerfing to make it easier to obtain higher level gear since Blizzard is constantly releasing patches in a few months after each other. I mean shit, they are already going to do a expansion while putting out patches for another 2 tiers of gear or whatever before then. Lol.

2009-09-07 03:24:07

furious gear needs like 1200 team rating now i think
