well thats what i get for joking about it being for drugs. assume what you will, but really...its for a new mobo/cpu. ive been interested in select few deals i found on newegg. all are less than $150. And yes, $150 for a mobo/cpu may not seem worth a damn but it most DEFINITELY is better than what I have:

Go with the Phenom and Gigabyte. Gigabyte is good shit and that proc is pretty quick.

Forget AMD, go with and Intel processor. Intel has AMD beat and AMD cant catch. Phenom didnt even come close to the current Intel processors.
Also yea ASUS or Gigabyte is a much better choice. Look at the reviews, if there are lots of bad reviews, dont get it!!!

Intel or AMD, it all matters on what you prefer. I've been usiong AMD for years now and its never failed me. Currently using at Athlon X2 64 2.9 and it runs at times at 3.1 without me oc'ing it.

The way I see it is that AMD sometimes offers more bang for buck.

I also remember you wanting to get a bigger motherboard than that. I recommend that you keep looking around until you find something you like and maybe get both things separately. Check Tiger Direct too, they have a slightly different selection.

Just recently got all of my stuff through tiger, it turned out cheaper than newegg , Mobo, vid card, PSU and a new hard drive

Total was about 50-70 dollars cheaper than what I would be getting in newegg.

Both sites are really good and have good customer service. Newegg however has more consistant reviewing so usually go back and forth through both when shopping.

Yes I have used both and when I do go shopping for stuff I compare prices at both because they do flip back and forth as to which one is cheaper for a particular item.

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Tiger. I agree with ya, they are both awsome.

I will be upgrading to Win 7 sometime this winter. I am going to test it out on my Vista laptop first before I do the desktop (a.k.a the baby

). I decided it would be a good idea to reinstall the OS to a new hard drive since the one its on is 2 years old now and the other one I had installed in the computer with it died a couple of months ago. I have a new 150 gig Velociraptor coming as my new OS drive, a new 500 GB drive for storing some slides Im going to scan and digitize (I have a lot of slides) and a 1 TB drive to use for an external back up drive to replace the one I have now which is very old.

Yeah I already ordered Windows 7 and I'm gonna install it as soon as it gets here next month (Student discount ftw!) I got a brand new hard drive and I installed XP 64 until I get my hands on 7. Hopefully t won't blow up and the like.

I wish I had a velociraptor hard drive! But they're a little too expensive at the moment for me. x__x
