Nice...great vid.

Best games for the bhop

1.Quake 3
2. TFC/Unreal Tournament
3.HL1
4.HL2DM

LONG LIVE THE BUNNYHOP. Down with the garbage like MW2, CSS, TF2 and noobed down campy source engine garbage that gets pumped out nowadays

Oh BTW, I can talk crap about MW2, on my friends PS3 we've prestiged 5 times now, the only thing remotely exciting about the game anymore is making fun of the friend who doesnt get a nuke that night...no replayability beyond a few months IMO.

I played some guy in my AG2 server the other night who was old school hldm and AG1 player, said he never really played hl2dm. This guy was so good with the tau it was insane, that and he new every inch of boot camp. It was truly one of the most impressive displays of fast movement I have ever seen first hand. I think if a few players here would give AG2 a try and learn the TAU the game would be pretty popular with the movement that is possible.

The tau is awesome. I was never good at moving around with it, but I loved zapping people through walls. I haven't played Boot Camp in more than 5 years, but I can still picture every inch of it in my head.

Technically, quake games didn't have bunnyhopping because there was very very VERY little air control. This was called strafe jumping and circle jumping. As far as I'm concerned, true bunnyhopping can be best described by TFC and HLDM. Unreal Tourney had crap movement too from what I remember.

1. TFC
2. HLDM
3. HL2DM

Edit: Except for quake 3 CPM which had the exact same style of air control and acceleration as the above games.

Quake started the whole bunnyhop movement.
Quake 3 has little air control but 1 and 2 do. CPMA added back air control.
Quake 4 uses crouch sliding to turn corners.
Valve ruined the HLDM bunnyhop with an update many years ago which is probably why AG exists.

Word...guess I should've been specific to say CPMA which is what I played. I still rate TFC high because it used to actually reward you with infinitely higher rate of speed the better your bunnyhop was, before the update anyway.

concs+ pre-update bhop... miss the days where you could in/out ennemy base with the flag under 10 secs on 2 fort

Its exactly why the first AG became so popular.

Also +1 for Warsow, I find the movement quite fun in that game.

HL2DM bunny hopping is terrible what are you crack heads talking about?

As said Quake started the bunny hopping it was a bug left in for a while, then altered in Q3. Bunny hopping was probably never intended in any major game it was just an artifact inherited from the quake engine which was the source of just about every FPS game ever made. They coded the movement to solve problems with games not allowing players to move correctly and then when added to air accel and bugs in friction while jumping people figured out the loop hole or exploit we call bunny hopping. Most companies at some point attempted to patch it out of the game, since most companies had noobs who could not bunny hop coding for them their patch attemts were like government laws which only partially fixed the problem and often led to more complicated solutions which still left loop holes, another tactic was to just punish the hell out of people for jumping like later CS. With HL2DM you just crouch to get around it surely no idiot coder did that on purpose but they were to lazy to patch it out once people were used to it. The early versions of HLDM and QW, 1, 2 had very nice bunny hopping. After that things went strait down the crapper and Mods would try to bring it back, some succeded.

Pardon me guys but I played quake 2 for 5 years straight and quake 3 for at least 3 years. The movement is no different between the two. You can barely maintain speed through corners unlike the games with the air control and air acceleration. The steering is completely different and as far as I'm concerned, the movement in quake 2 and quake 3 was NEVER called bunnyhopping. Maybe I missed the meeting where bunnyhopping was defined as just jumping in a straight line over and over again. The way you gain speed from quake 2/3 compared to half life games is completely different. Therefore, it's titled different.

Quake: STRAFE JUMPING/CIRCLE JUMPING

Half Life: BUNNYHOPPING

Capitalized for importance.

Tiggy.... fail post

Bunnyhopping is a general conceptual term used to describe continually jumping to evade an enemy or to move faster.

Overbouncing falls under the conceptual umbrella of bunnyhopping
Strafe jumping falls under the conceptual umbrella of bunnyhopping
Bunnyhopping falls under the conceptual umbrella of bunnyhopping

I was reminded here and today that this place is indeed filled with nerds when PEOPLE GET ANGRY over bunnyhopping like Paradox and Tiggy just did.

Since when did posting an opinion count is being angry? I gotta keep up with these new forum rules. I seem to be missing stuff.

I'm just stating that in the countless years of playing quake titles, never did the movement get called bunnyhopping. Sure, you can name a thousand ways to lead up to it being considered bunnyhopping, but it's never been called that. Ever. Like I said, I played quake 2 and quake 3 for the longest, and the style of advanced movement is no where near the same as what is in TFC, hldm(ag), and hl2dm.

For example:

1) Take what you know of how to move in hl2dm
2) Open up quake 2 or quake 3 vanilla
3) Try bunnyhopping the way it's done in hl2dm
4) Not working is it?

ya, the first AG for hl1 was insane, I think I was the only competitive ag player to come over to hl2dm, which is probably one main reason for my success in this game. Maybe I'll download AG2, sounds interesting.

EDIT: just remembered how late I came over to hl2dm, so I doubt I was the only player to come from that game. I think bio_gauss played this for a while? he won the last few 1v1 seasons for AG1

Tons of players from AG/HLDM played or play HL2DM, just in the spirit of their old game they are all fake naming so you don't know who they are. I am pretty sure Rhideon was a HLDM player too though he never admitted it, his idea of a good map was always a HLDM map, he knew what was going on at the rage board and so on. Many did not fake name as well. Many ONE and HALO members played under their HLDM names and clan tags. Neo played, Trem_r, and well just go over to the AG2 thread and most of those guys who are big proponents are probably HLDM players.
