High Resolution Pack v. 3

About:

This pack scales up most all textures in the game to HD-quality and gives it a more realistic feel. Depending on the options you choose, this pack will provide HD player models, HD surroundings, HD weapons, and HD Props. This pack does all this without lowering your framerate.
Please note - this pack will work on every server except those set to sv_pure 1 or 2. If this pack isn't working for you in-game, its because the server you're on is not sv_pure 0.

What's Included in this Pack Exactly?

Hi-Resolution Explosions
Hi Resolution Blood Decals
Hi Resolution Medkits
Hi Resolution Suit Chargers
Hi Resolution Health Chargers
Hi Resolution Weapons
Hi Resolution Weapon Models
Hi Resolution Barrels, Crates, Cabinets, Radiators, etc...
Hi Resolution Players
Hi Resolution Hands
Hi Resolution Textures for Maps
Hi Resolution Gravity Gun
Fixes USP no-shell bug
Adds a really neat blue effect with orbs.

Screenshots: Download Screenshot Pack HERE.

This pack comes in four parts, so you can pick and choose exactly what you want to install.

Weapons (30mb) - HERE

Players (145mb) - HERE

Textures (200mb) - HERE

Props (200mb) - HERE

Installing: Put the "materials" folder and/or "models" folders into C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/*Your Steam Name*/Half-Life 2:Deathmatch/hl2mp/

Uninstalling: Just delete those two folders.

Credits: I did not create any of these textures or skins. I merely collected them from the broader modding community and put them all together.

"This pack does all this without raising your framerate. "

I wouldn't expect it to, I'm not retarded. The important question is, does it lower your framerate? I'm going to guess "significantly"

When i had a lower end computer i tried it and it definately has an impact on the framerate. The author himself mentions it on hl2files.

No less frames on my end. I love it.

it looks weird to me anyway, the only one I would use is textures

Congrats, you found a typo!

The most I've heard is someone say it lowered their framerate by 5. That's it. Why don't you at least try it before bitching, amirite?

Don't assume what was true for one guy with 2gb of textures will be true for this pack of 200-400mb of textures. I pulled textures from a lot of people and slimmed down filesizes to make the pack more efficient.

Same, 1 each u mean.

if you're playing on an sv_pure 0 server to begin with, why worry about a slight fps drop? its not a league/scrim after all if pure is 0. you're just having fun right?

so jumping into a scrim with pure 2 won't change a thing because the mods won't work. no fps drop.

on the other hand, i assume these mods would kick some major ass for video production. correct? it doesnt matter what the pure status of the demo recording was... correct? you just max out your graphics card settings and record with sv_pure 0... correct?

Sadly, I couldn't. FF 10 uses custom shaders and applies the OB engine to Half-Life 2. So all the models I ported would need the OB shader, and obviously we can't do that with hl2dm.

I'm checking on that corrupted file error now. Update - it was a problem with the upload. I'm re-uploading. For the next hour, the Textures and Props archive links won't work.

I fixed your link errors. You should have read the thread, specifically the part where I said that for the next hour those links would be down.

You can download them now. There are still 2 corrupted files, but those two files don't matter. I don't know what the deal is with the upload, but the error is consistent.

5 fps is fucking a lot for me :|
That's my situation

As it is, I can barely pull 30-40 with every setting at minimum

You guys got shitty computers?

Back before Fake moved to OB engine I did import the entire set of his textures into DM the result was good and didnt drop too many fps at the time I used AMD X2 4800 and X850XT 256 bthe main problem was it want really enough video RAM so would stutter everyy so often and was worse on large explosions.

dbanimal

2010-05-12 20:35:49

Wow, even with these HD packs loaded, I'm still running 200-300fps! Are you guys on crappy laptops or something that you're getting such low fps?

MondaySunshine

2010-05-13 04:42:55

A computer capable of running hl2dm on max costs around $300. It really is ridiculous that you get such impossibly low frames.

Yes, my rig is obsolete by at least 6 years. I have a P4 @ 2.4 gHz, NVidia GeForce 6600GT, 1.5gb RAM

Pernicious

2010-05-13 08:35:42

Eh, do u force dx7 or wateva?
I had an old athlon that would run at 90 fps, would get drops but mostly nothing too bad, maps like overwatch would give drops down to to 40fps an shit.

Tranthor

2010-05-13 08:41:04

No, I would try that but it looks like crap

Do yourself a favor and get a box that can run youtube already.

Pernicious

2010-05-13 10:00:14

Err, i bet it looks like crap anyways.
30fps looks like crap. U can have the highest setting in the best looking game ever, but as soon as u move around at 30-40 fps or less even, its going to look real shit.(well eccept for crysis)
Run dx7. And dont worry about the texture pack seeing as ur computer is sooooo freeekin shit.

It would work for hl2dm:OB though wouldnt it

I have a gateway that is similar. not GFX series though. Came with AMD 64x2 6000+ @ 3.1ghz with Onboard video. 6150se Nforce 430, same as above.

I got 15-30 FPS with default settings in game for that "card".

6 series should handle 30-80 fps I would imagine, not much more than that, not sure, never used a 6 series dedicated GPU.

reason that 6150 is so crap, is the simple fact it's onboard video. It uses a shared video system memory setup, meaning it uses your system ram, setting aside x amnt (configurable in BIOS) for rendering images. That takes up CPU. It also doesn't have a dedicated GPU (or mulitple GPU cores) doing all the rendering. It works in tandem with that little onboard GPU and your CPU (does most of the work in onboard video card scenarios).

In effect, your losing out CPU power * 2 - due to "shared system memory" and the CPU time being shared heavily from running a game/ Operating system / graphics.
Thus the crappy frame-rate. FPS = CPU power + dedicated GPU power. CPU accounts for a lot of FPS; if it's busy, it will be crap.

edit* sad part is , my gateway was around 550 when I bought it a few years back. That GFX series was around 700-800. With that kind of loot you could've built a top of the line gaming rig, especially if you have an OS you don't have to buy.
