There will be a new one in 5 days. Visit everythingfps.com in about a week. No viruses, no crap. Maps, skins, news, etc...

Thanks for the warning.

I could never find anything on it, its so badly organised also the people that "review" maps in the comments tend to just judge by looking at the pictures and file sizes.

but why put bsp files in there? this is 2010 guys - use zip, rar, 7z, bz2. only site that has those is FF's. some maps are just too large to download in full.

keefy

2010-07-12 18:08:11

i think they are used for map downloads so zip and rar are no good but i agree should always bz2 for faster downloading.

Create a Batch file for use with 7-zip - copy 7z.exe to c:windows/System32

Code: Select all

for %%A in (*.bsp) do 7z a -tbzip2 -mx=9 -mmt=on %%A.bz2 %%A
Paste the batch into the maps folder then double click.

I think there are other progs to do it but I dodnt want to install another jsut for that 1 purpose.

That's super duper if you want to download huge files and know exactly what you're looking for. But if you think to yourself, "Hey I really enjoyed that map I played on yesterday - what was it called?" you're gonna really want some pictures, map info, etc.

Hence, new website in 4 days.

If it's a new map, search it by date in hl2mp/maps folder.
While playing, type currentmap in chat if server has plugins installed, OR simply press esc to go to main menu and you will see the map name in the upper right corner (dunno if console must be enabled for this or not).
I also check http://www.game-monitor.com/ and the consortium if I remember the IP of the server (can also check History for it) and see mapcycle or bits of it.

Also, if you happen to put info on kbx maps, I already have screenies for'em.

Honestly though I will say I have downloaded alot of maps from FPSBanana and I havent had much trouble because of it. I have a really good antivirus and iirc it stopped the one trojan from FPS Banana that tried to invade my computer. Other than that one time, there has been nothing at all. Really you can get viruses downloading from literally anywhere, even emails from your friends that some shithead gloms a virus onto. Just need to make sure you invest in a really good antivirus and keep it updated and your computer scanned regularly.

I scan literally file I'm going to put on eFPS with 3 different antivirus programs. You will never get a virus there.

lol, as if.

We are gonna make everyone pay $50 for eFPS 1.0 and then make eFPS 2.0 about 10 months later with the same price tag, claiming that eFPS 1.0 was just the beta for eFPS 2.0.

At least 100 hours per day lost

Bucky was going to finish the site in 4 days because he didn't have much going on at work. He lost a week of internet, and by the end of that, he had a ton of work to do.
