This might just make it to the top of my 'Random splurge impulse buy' list.

If only for the pure nostalgia factor and the look of a backlit mechanical keyboard. Clackity-clack.

I'd be cautious to get this right away because first gen gaming keyboard, especially mechanical ones, usually have a lot of issues.

Some of my problems with it:

I can't figure out why they chose Cherry Blues. I associate the blues with applications that require tapping keys, like typing and games like starcraft. In dm and other fps you have to hold keys down for movement and crouching. I'll take black or brown for that ty.
Gaming optimized key matrix for minimized ghosting
Most likely means that unless you use wasd for movement you're screwed.

It certainly looks badass though and better than Logitech's keyboards.

Looks pretty sweet! Hmmm...I just realized that the gaming PC I built for myself has great hardware in it but 2 things I overlooked were the keyboard and mouse. I just basically threw on the two that I had stashed on my book shelf and they're nothing spectacular. What does everyone use nowadays, specifically for gaming?

My keyboard:

And considering the razer isnt ps2 and doesnt have infinite rollover, it probably performs identically.

I have a logitech g13, it has the lit up keys and the screeny bit(which i admit is handy for coretemp), but the reason i bought it was for comfort and out of curiosity. It is very comfortable though dont regret the purchase, also not to be confused with the g15 or g19, which in my opinion are pretty much just normal keyboards that look kinda perty.

This would be a somewhat fitting response if the object in question were, say, headphones or something that had a similar trend of quality and price generally increasing in parallel. Gaming keyboards, unfortunately, are notorious for leaving the quality part out of the equation.

+1
used the 518 before i found the awesomeness that is G9 (the ugliest bastard in town). it's beyond mouse. it's an entity.
my only issue with the 518 was it cannot endure violent handling as eventually it's left mouse broke on an aggressive headshot. i get excited when in game :) other than that that mouse is great.

If you're left handed and use the numeric keypad for navigation, most keyboards blow chunks due to ghosting.
