this reminds me of a joke i used to play on this fat, waste of oxygen i used to work with. after she left for lunch or for the day i would go to her PC and take a screen shot of her desktop, then delete all the icon on it and paste the screen shot of her old desktop. fucking laughed my ass off listening to her clicking the shit out of the screen shot of the icons and trying to figure out "how this keeps happening".

Same, but I thought it was because my windows update downloaded all updates automatically (even though I had it set the updates manually option on).

I tried deleting Update 971033 etc etc. Fuck Microsoft, bastards stealing our money.

*EDIT* After searching for hours realising that Genuine Advantage changed its name to Windows Activation Technology I changed it back using RemoveWAT.exe

Windows Pro tip:
Select download but do not install updates.
Read up on each update and see if it is something you want to install prior to installing it.
For the most part you do not need updates anyway and unless there was an update that had a performance improvement I wouldn't install it.
FYI remove watexe will only work for a short time then the nags will come back.

Agreed but I would expect the upcoming SP1 to contain something to detect known bad keys and system check bypasses,
and most everyone will likely update that so don't be surprised.
