Hello. I used to play this game quite often. Have I read correctly that the movement is different these days? That would be very discouraging.

Yep. Valve broke it, and then they laughed, and laughed, and laughed...

Not very noticeable unless you are trying to do hard turns, in fact there's almost no difference IMO once you get it down right unless of course you're talking about the hard turning bhop.

Just dload OB if you want the original bhop flavor

you must return from crouching to standing in order to re-strafe and begin hopping again. to say it utterly destroys the flow of many maps is an understatement, for a lot maps feature platforms with gaps between them that were once easily traversed by doing little mini strafes. you now have to stand up, dodge, and re-strafe again

or you could just not crouch in your bhop

if it's already broke, break it some more. It's the valve hl2dm way for years

Sigh. Oh well, I couldn't find anyone playing anything that wasn't low grav or rp anyway

yeah but that's beside the point, some of the distances are too far to land while not crouched. on level ground the bhopping in new dm is relatively fine, but when it comes to jumping fairly long distances in quick succession it's completely broken. period.

A little late, but I had to drop by and say hi, Dirk. I remember when I was a beginning player MANY years ago (under the name Zephyr) and you were gracious enough to invite me into WRW and teach me the ropes. One of my earliest memories is in dm_lockdown and you trying to teach me how to make the jump from the hallway and through the window to the supercharger. Probably upwards of seven years ago now.

Nice to see an old name pop up, didn't think I would see yours again. 8)

Dirk returns, you're not going to like this game now.

That's what I'm talkin about Ghost, brutal honesty. I think you're right. And hi Zeph I do remember that as well. The good old days.
