Alright, so I'm currently living in a new place. I will not explain why as that is not necessary. But....

I am too far away from my router that I have poor service for gaming. There is a phone line out here and I have dsl. It's not possible to line a cat5 cable out to where I am. What are my options so that I have a wired line? I'm guessing if I bought another modem and plugged it into the phone line it wouldn't work? Any suggestions please?

You can only have one modem. This is the main connection point between you and your ISP. From there you can connect a router to it and then switches to the router.

What's your distance from the modem? You're going to have to either get a long ethernet cable, or have multiple cables and these to connect them all together.

Another option is to convince whoever is using the modem currently to move it to your room, and setup a wireless router so that THEY are wireless and you are not.

And of course, option 3 is just deal with wireless.

Assuming that the other users don't require a wired connection:

Relocate your current modem/router to the nearby wall outlet. If the wifi signal strength isn't suitable/satisfactory for the other users install a wireless repeater (or AP with repeater functionality) between the users and the relocated router/modem to boost the signal.

This is the option we took. I am thoroughly happy! Except...

Are you still having firmware issues with your Razer? The only solution that i found was to buy a fucking Logitech.
