Well, for those who may have noticed, I suddenly went offline last night in the middle of a game. It would seem that my old 7800 gtx heated up to 8 trillion degrees and fried in its own resistor-juice. :x so, I am hoping to go buy a replacement card tonight, but we'll see. I'm looking at the 8600 gt. to team flas: I'll try to be back in time for cal tonight, but in case im not I'll set gas_mask as manager for tonight so you can report our win (forfiet or otherwise  ). I'm sure there are many people who will help you figure out how to do that gas, if you need help. Peace gents.

Wow thats a real bummer man. Just a quick side note, the 8600 gts performs better in a bunch of games and benchmarks like 3Dmark and that other popular one. Its about the same price for better performance. Sounds like your shopping retail, but XFX seemed to manufacture cards that had superior performance even in the same card class, just another thing to concider. Good luck m8.

Ouch. Frying a video card doesnt sound like a pleasurable experience

No, seeing little dots and artifacts all over your screen, even during POST isn't fun. :(

eVGA has a life time guaranty? When I got my 8800GTS it came with one, I dont know about the older cards though, anyway your card is supposed to be a highly reliable card, its strange that that happened. how long have you had it?

it doesn't matter that you didn't register it.

I would still try:

rma:

http://www.evga.com/rma/default.asp

and the warranty:

You should buy either the 8800GT 512mb or the 3850 512mb (can be had for 150$)

You are seeing artifacts during POST, before the drivers are even loaded?!?!

Check the card first in another machine.
