I'm looking forward to having our games looking like this, but not looking forward to the cost of the comp that I need to get to see that.

I kinda like the way most games look. I play to escape the BS of reality. If they seem too real then how much of an escape will it be? Dunno.

With more and more processor cores being added to a single die, graphics and more realistic physics are possible. I got a quad core Qx6700 and these games have used a max of two cores so far. Valve was interviewed on the future of gaming awhile back and the things they were doing with my processor were amazing. http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/ ... ticore.ars

yea aint this a cgi image using rino have seen graphics like this and would expect it if the rendering had taken 23days to do  . In terms of getting this sort of hi res quality graphics in gaming yea would not be surprised at the rate technology is moving at the moment. Most likely when we can play graphics like this I will have to pay thro the nose to be able to play it :(. Done CGI models using Alias and would of taken me a least a 2 months to get it this good and thats not including getting the lighting right. Not sure when they refer to rendering time they mean the time he taken is getting the lighting and effect right or the actual time it taken for the computer to generate the image if the latter then WOW.

I could really care less how realistic the graphics look on future games if playability and performance continue their slow spiral into nonexistence. Too many modern titles have 8-9 figure budgets, a staff of 500+, are 5 years in the making yet dont even manage the play value of Galaga.

Im personally not going to buy a 5-figure rig just to "play" what will likely amount to a badly written, poorly acted semi-interactive movie.

Of course, if they can pull off a masterpiece along the lines of Chrono-Trigger, Castlevania SOTN or Super Metroid, all in perfect 3d, id be the first to build that killer rig... but with the current state of the gaming industry, i dont see it happenning.
