well he does state in the youtube description (in french) that it's basically just a vid made for fun and very amateur. some people go for the Golden Globe and some just do stuff for the fun or doing something new.

This is clearly by no mean in the same league of anything else around here but you can't deny someone's effort, no matter the end result.

That being said I will treat this vid like any other.

Pros: The vid didn't suffer from the godamn 'movie maker white text caption on blue background' and the little camera intro thing at the begining actually shows that you somewhat cared for the presentation

Cons: design wise (visuals vs music , text ( WATCH OUT TEKNOMIOZIC COMING) all, these are common beginner mistakes. Skill; people expect to see high end skill, if what you want is simply make hl2 movies, i'd suggest to watch tFlow's movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kJ2fR8KCj4


When compared to all the vids here, i'll be blunt, it's a time-waster. But considering it's one of your first video montage and it could've been much worse all things considered, i'll say go watch popular frag vid from other on source radio or whatever, and try to understand why are these vids good. It's not about after effect and million dollar editing, I took tFlow's vid as an example as it explains particularly well what i'm trying to express, it's about creating and maintaining a mood and a state of mind. The images shown and the sound heard must ''fit'' together.

Use DM's demo feature, and then use the startmovie and endmovie plus read the guide to movie making on this site, http://www.hl2dm-university.com/forum/p ... f=13&t=917 . Then use something like sony vegas or adobe premier to edit your video after you've made the actual .avi files with virtual dub.

But the big issue with this film that most people didn't care for if I had to guess at it were just the settings for the frags, lots of low grav / KB / pub footage.

I noticed you used spectate with the letterbox, easy cure is as follows

Also,
