General "scrimmage" section

That has different breakdowns? i.e. we have the "Scrimmages" forum or whatever. And then under topics say 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3, v 3, and 4 v 4 and one for clans interested in clan matches. So we know who is interested in what? I know some people really like 1 v 1 and 2 v 2, so we know where everyone lies and so that everytime we want a 1 v 1 or 2 v 2, we have a sticky post where we go and look up names of who likes what? Just an idea to help get some practice time faster and so we know who likes what.

lol If I confused anyone I can explain in better detail possibly with an example.

i like this idea.. I just feel like this forum has too many sections as it is.

i love it. As for the sections i think you are allowed to have suboards on most forums to you can just go the the main section then they will be the 1 vs 1 etc.

Yeah, the forum is quite big now. Then again, we are trying to do a lot of stuff here, and it offers a lot for visitors to explore...so...I don't mind so much.

Forums with 1 general dicussion and a few special sections that never see posts are worse.

Having said that, I dont think a "post here for a scrim" section works that well based on past experience with forums. I would prefer to just direct players to the #hl2dm IRC channel where you can ask for a match in real time. That is mainly what it is for after all.

Well the only thing that sucks is usually most people in IRC are away/in a game so it's not much help. And the point would be so that we can add people to our friends when we want a 1 v 1 or a 2 v 2 in case we forget. I understand the forum is big and that there are other ways to do this.

I'll think about it some more, see if it can fit in somewhere, maybe as part of something broader.

agreed with WT (hes the man) it seems kind of feeble on its own. I know a lot of peopel are away in the channel (at times, around 10pm EST activety picks up tho) but people have been getting scrims via IRC for decades now, and using a forum for that is kinda like.... killing a fly with a handgrenade: overkill.

It's not really to get scrims, it's to know who wants to scrim and what level (2 v 2 etc,)

I mean even if we asked everyone to put it on their profile it would be nice. Just something so when we're bored and looking for a game we can ask someone for a 1 v 1 and 2 v 2.

Cyber, you can hit me up with a request anytime I'm online Steam. I don't IRC...yet. Still debating that idea. I basically suck, have never played anything below a 4 vs 4 (mostly Clan Matches) and have no admin authority on any servers.

But I'm game for a try. If you have specific tactics or strategies you want work on, I'm a good sudent and don't really care how often I die. I'll team up with anyone and be the sacrificial lamb. But you'll have to provide the server. Same goes for any of ya'll.

I have admin on STK servers 1-4 (4 is bug and 3 is low grav, 1 is pub and 2 is TDm so 2 is probably best) so yeah I think I have you added on friends. Or anytime you wanna play just jump in. Also we're welcome to clan matches if you guys are interested :D

well if u think about space there is one section that is not used often i don't wanna say its useless but its not used as much as the others so maybe your could replace the console creation section with this??

Walking Target

I'm honestly not that worried about size. I want to keep the console creation thing, because even though it is moving slowly, I think it is an interesting topic that there is so little info out there about.

What I was really getting at is that we want to encourage everyone to use #hl2dm as much as possible so that it becomes an even better place to find matches. ie. more active. Having a forum here is kind of stagnant for such a dynamic thing.

Having said that, I am mulling it over to see if the idea can be incorporated somehow, so all hope is not lost.

LOL i got it target. Just tell everyone to stop being so damn lazy and put in there profile either that they are willing to 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 4 v 4, clan matches/whatever or not to contact them. :) Lolz Or put it in their sig. (See my example cuz im cool like that)

best way for hl2dm is to get steam friends with a clan leader and pm him, If that doesn't work just find a pug of players from steam/IRC

People should just promote the IRC channel in-game like they do for the university. Just make a text bind like, "Join #hl2dm IRC channel for scrims/matches" and that would increase the activity after a couple of weeks...although I dunno if people aren't already doing this since I haven't played in 7 months lol. comp gets here on tuesday w00t!
