Hello, Ninojman (knee? no. Jay man!) here, I am sitting with Zman, Member of .flaS a hl2dm team that competes in CAL 4v4, 2v2, 1v1 and overall Flies as if they were squirrels and or other rodents.
Hello Zman,
<Zman> Glad to be here nino.
So tell me How and when did you get into Hl2dm?
<Zman> Well, I first got the game for free when I bought my gaming pc perhaps 3 years ago, but never really took the game very seriously until fall of '07, at which point I quti my old clan, and began thinking about CAL.
Which is your favorite style of Cal-hl2dm play?
<Zman> Favorite style of play? hmmmm probably when its just me and my teammate camping a rocket, and the other team is camping somewhere else, so I can go make a sandwich.
I was referring to 4v4,2v2,1v1
<Zman> Oh. 2v2 for sure. 4v4 just gets too random and hectic. And 1v1 would be a close second to 2v2.
How can you have time to make a sandwich in 2v2 or 1v1, is that possible?
<Zman> Ask anybody in the Khaos pub server who's the master of the "30 second sammy". also it helps if you're playing a map such as zeta. Also I have not actually tried this in cal play. Looking forward to eating peanut butter and jelly in the finals this year, woot!
Where is your favorite place to play hl2dm, not in cal; server and style of play low grav, killbox etc .... rp?
<Zman> Probably the Khaos pub tdm server. Lots of great people there, or random 1v1s in any locked server. stock grav but I play almost any map, though I tend to favor cal maps. No rp. Ever.
Do you like key lime pie or cheese cake?
<Zman> Key lime. Cheesecake is for scrubs.
indeed
So in Cal 4v4 .flaS made Cal Finals in it's first season of competition, what was the overall feeling going into that match?
<Zman> Well to be honest we went into that whole season, and that match in particular, with a feeling of "well lets see what happens." we had no expectations, except that we vaguely thought we might do well. Of course I cannot speak for my teammates, except for what I was picking up from them.
$w lost 2v2, 1v1 competitions do you feel that they had a bit more to play for in 4v4?
<Zman> Well er, now I really can only speak from my perspective on this one, but it seems to me that winning cal 2v2 and 4v4 brackets so many times in a row undefeated would leave you feeling like you had nothing to prove, but I imagine that yes they probably wanted to win that match a lot.
Overall what did you think of the 4v4, 2v2, and 1v1 season 4?
<Zman> I thought it was great fun, great bunch of players, mostly well chosen maps, good matchups, stiff competition.
What has the team been doing since the finals, looking forward to next season?
<Zman> Oh yes, we're definitely looking forward to this coming season. We've had a few members take temporary leave for various reasons, and have welcomed a new player, Phantom, aboard. We've been basically practicing and waiting for the season to start.
How unoriginal is it to take the first letter of your name, and then add man to the end?
<Zman> how unoriginal is it to use a name like wRw^bunch of squigly letters^rL(music)(no sound)[no monitor]-new mouse?
Ouch, Question with a question, good strategy I must say.
<Zman> ty.
I guess that just about wraps it up, anyone you want to thank, comments, shoutouts?.
<Zman> shoutout to all players in cal this season, glad you're playing, glhfdc!
<Zman> oh, and the cake is a lie.
