what maps would you like to see?

Sorry i didn't stay i was feeling like shit, hope everything went ok. I was ok but then i heard stown3d voice and i got a bad headache and had to take a nap.

yeah these are the maps with the most play time, while lv and ld_r3 are great i don't know if zeta is really that great for 4v4, althou it's like a revision of overwatch for team play. Have to say i hate the colors in lv_v2

I'll give this thread til thrusday, then post a poll til next thrusday for the maps for draft night 8. I'd like to see some different maps but whatever ppl want is fine with me.

May be overwatch or resident we have not played those as far as i can tell.
If there was a revised version of overwatch I wouldn't mind I guess, but a 4v4 with 2 health packs and 1 charger? plus the few weapons on that map, that will be a "spawn and grav-nade kill people" match ..lol
Regarding resident ...sorry I never liked it =/

Valar said he would have a tdm version for warlock out soon, I think it'd be best to wait for that.

And dm_overwatch really turns into a spawn, and nade fest, with only one of each weapon it really sucks 4v4. little cover etc as Onti said.

amplitude has not yet been used as a week 1 map .. and can be used eventually.

I agree, Overwatch is not a good 4v4 map. Not enough health, weaps, ammo, suit. Its also kind of small for 4v4.

well i tallied up the people that posted maps, didn't care/look at the negitive comments (ya i know i had some for a few maps aswell) The more pro comments for the maps the more it got into the poll. And put up a poll to run until thrusday before draft night.

I kinda like this format for picking maps what do you guys think?

Lockdown_r3 Amplitude_r1 Lostvillage_v2 sounds the best. I have the updated lostvillage_v3. I raised the skybox to an ungodly height, added a health kit, and changed a few textures. I'll post it to download in a hour or so. Gotta upload it. ;D

lockdown_r3, amplitude_r1, and Lostvillage_v3 would be an awesome draft night. Yes lockdown is over played, but thats the way its always gonna be lol. Its the de_dust of hl2dm lol. I'm actually gonna set a reminder on my cell for this draft night so I don't miss it this time. I've missed three so far, and I wanted to go to every one lol. RAWR.

I think it is because over watch only has 1 of each wep and only 2 healh packs. it's so open that every time someone spawns they are going to try to attack with a grenade right away .. and probably succeed.

Slammer is surprisingly good for a team game. Overwatch would only be good if we had a good mod for it specifically for 4v4.

Meaning if we used a different version of the map, I've seen a few out with some rooms on the outside buildings added, more health and more weapons also

Cons:

Small...great for 1v1 or 2v2 but probably not more.
Many map exploits, mainly the surrounding rooftops and no draw issues on the main building.
Few pickups...again fine for 1v1 or 2v2.
Loads of props, could do with some of the less harmful ones removed imo.

not much help outside to clear the roof. A few extra nades scattered around would help, as with zeta. If the other team has the rpg, it can be very hard to get to the 357, 2 nades and 2 Smg nades. Only weapon you can't see from the RPG is the ar2. It's ok 1v1 or 2v2 because 1 or 2 people can't cover everything but with 4 you can lockdown the top basicly.

I've thought i this before, It would make for an interesting game to say the least i think. Now are you thinking just having a mirror version of overwatch facing each other? Thats what i always envisioned having althou maybe the trucks would do better opening up the 357 by having to put more focus on the other side of the map. That or making some of the nearby building able to get inside and snipe from would be good for the map in 4v4 play. Althou your idea seems easy and would make things even. And it would make for a different gameplay where most is RPG control this you would be attacking a bit more with it, like 7hour.

eh...dunno...the lag (low FPS) you see when facing the center of the map might well increase when doubling everything...so a bit of "rearranging" may be called for...
i'll try both mirroring AND rebuilding..see how goes. my orig thought was to have everything twice + adding 3-4 more HPs and about 5 more nades.

see what happens.. thx for ure inputs for now.

Having the two buildings side by side might be better, instead of mirroring lengthwise. Optimizing a map like that shouldn't be very challenging for an experienced mapper, I've seen maps with stupid poly counts run well with proper use of hint brushes, occluders, etc.

decompile it and see for yourself. there're so many mapping errors in it its a hoot. to get over the lag you need to literally redo the map from scratch.
other than that standing almost anywhere is overwatch you get complete view of the whole map. not much to occlude here. tis a tough one no doubt.

Well when you decompile a Source map it's going to have hundreds of errors. Any change to the map beyond the entities means remaking the thing.

Overwatch and Lockdown were quick ports of single player maps, in the source file to lockdown they included in the sdk, there are still entity references to the removed soldiers, antlions, etc.

It wouldn't be a big project at all I think to remake it. That said, I'm not doing it :)
