I know this is originally intended for CS:S but I'm sure the differences between it and DM are minimal (if any)

So for those that haven't seen it yet:

Enjoy.

I hvae found that in css m_pitch is restricted at 0.022 unless cheats is on, the same goes for hl2dm.
This is uber gay, we need to form a protest on the steam forums in both hl2dm and css forums, get everyone u know to post so that they change that.
If u dont know wat im on about, go into css or hl2dm an do the following.
And notice how much more accurate an customisable it is.

sv_cheats 1
m_customaccel "0"
m_customaccel_scale "0"
m_customaccel_max "0"
m_customaccel_exponent "0"
m_filter "0"
m_forward "0.001"
m_mouseaccel1 "0"
m_mouseaccel2 "0"
m_mousespeed "1"
m_pitch "-0.001"
m_yaw "0.001"
m_side "0.001"
Adjust sense an play around with it a little.
If ppl here want to do it i will start thread on steampowered. But i need backup >: (

Even though it was already posted, thanks for doing a thread apart for it, since it is really helpful.

Sorry, but I don't have time to play around with it atm. Could you give us a hint as to what is its advantages besides customization being more flexible?

btw, I tried the "find your perfect sensitivity" test after making all the other recommended tweaks. I wound up with in-game sens at 1.8.

But... the strafe shooting drill still showed my crosshair jerking on both ends of the strafe. Maybe I need a new mousepad. Then again, maybe some things just aren't meant for me... like being a mag whore. I really don't think I'll ever get to the point of proficiency with that damn thing.

Really glad this is helping people out, it's so well written I felt it was being wasted hidden away in that other thread (wherever that is)

Fun how mouse settings are considered cheats but we can all mess our rates up :D talk about logic

just a thought, but might it be something that aimbots take advantage of, and that's why it is locked?

afaik, changing those kind of things can make controlling recoil in css soooo much easy and accuarate...so I guess that's a reason for it to be locked.

Pernicious

I dont know the reason for it =\
As for aimbots taking advantage of it, no, aimbots dont require mouse movement, they lock onto entities, or something along those lines.

Fine article. I checked my windows/driver sensetivities after reading it, and horribly, the driver sens was set 1 notch below default. Its now fixed, and while mouse movement is smoother, my mag aim is going to suffer until i find the proper ingame sensetivity again. Not good considering the cal matches i have pending. :x

Going to try 640x480 @125hz as well, just to see how much smoother (if at all) screen transitions are compared to 1024x768 @85hz... ill post back later with the results.

Did you see this part? D:

"Interesting information there, and using it I was able to calculate the scalars that windows uses to control pointer speed. If you're using a setting that's not 6, then the table that follows shows what you need to multiply your in-game sensitivity by to use the correct setting and not change your overall sensitivity in CS:S.

1. 0.03125
2. 0.0625
3. 0.25
4. 0.5
5. 0.75
6. 1.
7. 1.5
8. 2.
9. 2.5
10. 3.
11. 3.5"

So multiply your sens by .75 ko and it'll go back to your old sens ;p

Ya, worked fine ^_^ thanks.

Still have to test with 640x480 @125hz, totally forgot today.

To my sidmay I found my win setting at notch no. 7, but when I fixed this and went back to playing there was no difference. Probably due to the fact that I formerly had the Advanced Mouseware setting to use game settings rather than OS specific ones.

I did, however, try out the finding your optimal sens method and have now upped it from 1.2 to 1.3 (@1600dpi) since it also makes bunny hopping slightly easier to pull off. I also found that using USB rate 1000 didn't work reliably with my MX518 but that 500 was flawless.

All in all a very good guide. Now I just need to replace one of the skatez that I saw is missing from my mouse.
