I like the small x for my xhair,, and I recetly switched the color ot it to a bright purple. Works surprisingly well.

I recommend a dot, any color you can see, no brackets. :)

^^
I thought this thread was familiar

Valid question though. Finding the crosshair that worked for me really helped my game, no more losing the crosshair in the frey. Always do a couple of tests also when you first switch to a new crosshair to make sure its centered. There are some crosshairs out there that have center points that don't line up exactly right with where your shots land. Having an inacurate crosshair kind of defeats the purpose of having one at all lol.

I just changed over to Misheps' single dot (the second smallest one), in red with a black outline

it's helped my aim a little bit

I use the small X with the smaller x in the middle.

Seagull wrote: Add the "outline" "1" value and it'll automatically outline your crosshair in black. Really cool.

I suggest using any of nates, they are centered better than default. Personally I use a bold + and it seems to work alright.

8) Shameless bump. How effective is changing your crosshair? I've found that using the smallest possible crosshair i can see works for me. But to use the small dot and for coordination I, for some reason, have to use brackets.

I find the color green is the best color to use since it that your eye picks out green as the easiest color to see that why u see many cockpit of planes uses green on there digital visors. In terms of cross hair design is dependent of what sort of player u are most pro players i know use a solid dot with out brackets. where as me i have a small dot for sniping which i used to be a ctf player and sniped allot but i do get the rare occasion in dm. All so it surounded by four dots the point inwards to help me find the center of the screen. I keep my barckets on so i can aim with my shotgun to represent its large hit area.

Green wouldn't work out too well for me since i'm red green color blind.

I use a red xhair. I tried a really small, simple x but found that trying to shoot a strafe jumper while strafe jumping, it often got lost in all the motion so I went to a slightly larger, more elaborate xhair (its one of the ones in the xhair packs on the DMU). I think it did help in that it doesnt tend to get lost in the movement.

I used a purple small x for a while then went to she small +

Thing is.. the purple turned to pink in game since I got used to its color. O__o;;

So I had a pink xhair. I got used to the color so I switched it to a red and now I currently use the small red + from MIsheps

Your still using the brackets around the crosshair? Did you tryed if you can aim better without them? If not type hud_quickinfo 0 into console and see if you can do better.

I keep my barckets on so i can aim with my shotgun to represent its large hit area.
He already said some posts ago that he left it like that cuz that way he can have an idea of the range the shotgun has when shooting people.
I personally prefer them out... I don't try to see the "range" my shotgun will do damage, but rather get a full one on people.
Anyway it's personal preference I guess...

I use a purple/fuschia color. It looks really gay but it shows up on every map I've played.

I just use that triangle xhair that cyn^Nate made. For over 4 years I used the standard crosshair, so what I have now is fine for me.

I use nate's large dot xhair and have the brackets taken off.

im putting off my brackets and see if my aim improves also by looking at my demos it see that my aim inconsistent some time my aim is spot on and sometimes it well off. So i have a feeling it has something to do with my wooden table my mouse sits on so i bought a gaming mouse pad to see if my aim improves and stays consistent.

Sweet! Happy to hear it man, I knew that was gonna make a world of difference for yah. Its amazing how big a difference somthing as simple as a mouse pad can make. I've got the Razer Mantis Control mat and I wouldn't trade it for another mat, I love how huge it is.
