I'd love if lostarena had more props!

Note: of course this guy lies, he clearly failed to hide this TNT barrel from the public in the branches. Owned right there mr seller.

I think its k with the props it has and its does not need any more props since it such a small map. tho a added plant pot would be good at teleport entrance but its too much of small of change to make any changes to it.

He could always go to the Zeta discount five and dime store, I know they have a abundance of crap to get rid of there

haha >.<

Well, I see a prop lover feeling the lack of props in the map. I personally don't mind much, barrels have been useful on my last fights there, but now that I think of it, all the props in that map end up breaking... it's a one chance shot...
Maybe something more "solid" could be added.. not much though, as it was said the map is small and even more with the teleport.

Personally, i really like the variety of maps like lostarena, lockdown, biohazard, lostvillage, caverns...

They are all so different to each other, and i like that !

So please don't start to change the maps !

Anyway, i'm looking forward to play the r4 - version of Lockdown !

Yeah, I was making it more obvious for the near sighted.

You shouldn't let them influence your creations :P

Maybe they should consider another game than HL2DM...? 8)

Very much, me likey the physics so many. Radiator in face of leaping monkey madog magnum prostitute whore is very good to me, niiiice. Me is so sad not having little computer box and wooden smashing box to put in face of crazy orb giant. Even cheap like Big Lots metal chair is wonderment!

i don't mind the little amount off props on lostarena, it could use some more, like those little pipes would work well i think, but it works without them, Octagon could use some more though for sure. Maybe next map (i hope you do a next map) could be a prop heavy map.
I love lostarena btw

I think it needs more props as well. Allowing access to the HPA tanks behind the gate would help. I am with Cynips, I just do not for the life of my why there are people who don't like props. I mean this game is riddled with bugs and crashes why the heck would you waste your time playing it and putting up with the problems if you are just going to run around with the mag. I mean every other game out there has a rail or sniper or something like the mag. In fact all the weapons in this game are pretty generic with the exception of the gravity gun and props.

I was waiting for Physics Master Fearsome to weigh in! No 1. Kill Weapon, did you know that?
You sir, are VERY good with the GGun!

i am not a fan of a map riddled with props. an even balance of shit to throw around is fine by me. i like the fact that a prop can be an equalizer in times of desperation, sure. the gravity gun is OF COURSE what makes this game.
it takes a certain type of map though, to get away with not having alot of shit to toss around. lostvillage and lostarena are really great examples.

i like the balance alot of the good maps in dm have. some are mag fest, some are cball fest, some are throw props around fest. usually the throw props around fest is an after thought though, the way i see it. for example, your playin it out with a dood, going back in forth in a tight situation. you unload on your weaps, choosing the ones that fit the area and situation the best, but your opponent keeps pressing on. it isnt until one of you find that lone radiator laying on the ground, followed by a well placed toss to the others pinky toe, turning around the kill.
props can also make this game super unpredictable, one of the many reasons why the loyals keep coming back.
on maps, weapons spawn in the same spot. nothing really changes with that, but solid, indestructible props can change location. your hopin down the mag-hall, only to find those little shards of rock you usually find only in the lockdown bathroom being hurled at your dirty rebel skullcap.
gameplay elements like that make the use of props cool. theres seriously a spot for every bit of em.
every map should have em, just in moderation. :D

lol. congratulate me on my longest post on a forum ever.
gg to anyone who decides to take the time and read whats above, hl2dm is awesome and fun.

I thought there were also 2 windows as props, or am I mistaken

Zman42

the windows are only good for one shot, then they break and disappear.

i think caverns_r1 has the perfect amount of props, works well with the wide hallways. Always seems to be one around if you really need it.

couple small props would fit in lostarena, the white pipes, or propane tanks. The pot'd plants are a good idea but just feel funky since you hold them from the stalk of the plant not the pot. More of then would fit the map.

I knew that, but its still a prop and u can use it once. And a kill is a kill, and one to remember if it is with the window

It could use more plants! I love the lostarena plants! Although I've had plenty of awesome games without missing the props (thanks ghosty d).

Few props are strange for DM, but if we're going to add props to lostarena on those grounds, we're going to have to add props to lostvillage as well...

True, lostvillage (especially when played without rpg) caters for people who want to 'strip down' the game, making it more suitable for their style of play. Seems to me this is often players with a CS background, and they probably feel more at home in maps with a layout like lostvillage. They're not used to weapons like grav gun and rpg.

If we want to get even more people over from CS, these lostvillage type of maps are probably good for us. Not saying lostarena is one of them with teleport and barrel, but the lack of props (and rpg) and the general layout should make if popular amongst CS noobs as well as die hard HL2DM fans.

edit: oops, this was posted by me, Cynips, on Shoobie's computer, forgetting to log out and in :)

Taking out props to reduce the use of the grav gun will not be popular to "die hard" HL2DM players. Might as well go play UT3 or Q4. No grav gun in those games. And yea I have played both so I do know how they play.

The grav gun is what sets this game apart and it is one of the reasons I still play this game. Take it out and I probably would play other games.

I do agree with a you a bit, but why not throw in a couple persistent props, so that the CS:S folks can experience getting bashed in the face with a radiator in an environment that seems somewhat familiar to them? Easing them into the game is cool, but showing them how to not piss on their leg is a bit much, IMO. That being said, I love the way crates break...and even more when a face other than mine causes them to shatter =).

(i still think Lostarena needs more plants! PLANTS!!!!!!!!!!)

Yeah, agreed, it's always a balance.

And although there are the CS-map conversions they're not anywhere near being as common as lostvillage and lostarena.

I like less props for the performance factor myself. im fine with a fair amount of props as long as the map and engine can handle it. No need for another overwatch though. Seems that is the kindergarten of dm maps somehow.

They lag shit up so bad sometimes, so much stupid crap in LD getting all stuck on too
