i want a real fucken jump pad.

hl2dm pro coded the trigger_pushinstant.. and i know there is a way you can add new weapons to maps, is there any way i could take this entity from pro, and add it to my map?

Unfortunately, entities are coded into the engine. This one would need the code behind it to make it work, so just trying to add it from the PRO mod wouldn't work for ya.

I have no idea why they don't have these in there. They have been fundamental in DM since Quake.

trigger_push just doesnt do the trick, and doors work alright, but.. not the same thing...

as mappers we should make a list of entities we'd like to see added to the engine, i'd also liek to see some zoneinfo identity so i could set the gravity of 1 room, trigger push also doesnt do a good job at mocking low gravity.

Have you tried to make a trigger push which is only turned on with a trigger for a set time, put the trigger down on the ground low and people have to touch it then it turns on the push for 1 or 2 seconds?

yeah it doesnt work.

just like if you spawn inside the trigger_push, you have to jump before it has any affect on you.... fucked i tell you.

no, i want you to just touch it, and it instantly shoots you off, like every jump pad works in every game, even the original hl.

I don't remember them working that well in hl1, hl1 games used the trigger push as well.

Why do you have to jump for a trigger_push to affect the player? Am I stoned? Wait - don't answer that. I'ma go test it right now.

if you have a trigger that needs to be touched to enable a trigger_push, the player will be inside the trigger_push when its enabled and wont actually push them until they jump.

i want the jump to be instant, and 100% accurate, something you cant get with trigger_push.

Okay, I checked. I see what you're saying.
If you stand within the trigger_push, it will push you up without having to jump, BUT if you walk/sprint across the pad, it does nothing. :(
I agree -- we need trigger_pushinstant NOW. :)

isnt that kind of like what Valar has in his map which was his first test of HDR...can't remem the name sry, but it was like steam was flowing up and all you had to do is walk into it for it to push you off the ground without a jump
