Wow the screens of this map are awesome. I hope it isnt too big for anything but a full server. I will have it loaded on our server tonight.

I never played the original but I like this version, it's really well balanced map, there's just another weapons to keep you on your toes, love the way the RPG is on a timer so it can't be whored all the time. great colours and good amount of visibility, feels really smooth as well... plus I get good fps on my sucky computer :D

Ah, maybe it just seems big from the ss. I have never seen the original. The 30 MB also made me think it was big but then again LD_r3 is 26 or 27 mb.

Very nice look. Steam lab is basically Valve's updated version of datacore. The layout is very similar and identical in some places. I prefer the datacore look though :)

Very nice! Ya, feels exactly like steamlab but much cleaner!

Thanks everybody :D

Personally I really don't like steamlab since datacore was my fav hldm map, so decided to do it my way. Glad you like my way

Woot!! Screenies look great and if it is the same scale as the original HL1 version it will play fine with light player load!! Without even testing this map yet, I am sure it will be up on our [FF] servers unless there is a major glitch. I'll be setting up a playtest within [FF] soon. Thanks for converting this classic map, I wish there were more HL1 conversions performed.

I played this last night and its a great looking map, had good fps, not a lot of crap to hang up on and was fun to play. Would like to see a few more weaps, health packs and suit charge packs around though.

Hot map!

Definitely needs more weapons though, it feels like your in a desert starved for water!

Awesome job otherwise.

Maybe get with that Fearsome fellow and ask him about weapons, he's got a knack for that sort of thing.

Weapon placement its virtually identicle to the original just hl2 has no gauss or hornet or snarks so extra bal spam and other weps have been placed about.

Are you after a salary as my official spokesperson?

Getting quite mixed feedback about this. Some people have said they like it this way for 1v1 / 2v2 etc as it makes you work the map for tools, and others have said they would like more stuff to play with.

Will look at the possibility of doing a datacore_r1 with the help from you nice HL2DMU peeps when I can tear myself away from my comp entry :D

why more weapons ?? if ya walk a certain route you get all weapons fast enough. the only thing you miss are those ar2 altfire box and rpg box and they were spamming that area anyway and that small hallway with health package and battery's. so what you can do is split those over the map but i dont think its necassary since you can hold a good control over the map if you use a certain strategy

what i do find out though and problably a couple of more people :) you can grab the rpg with your grav gun i dont know if that was meant to be ??

i think you need to leave weapons and items the way it is like bosh said "it makes you work the map for tools" i just like the strategy in this map but its just a personal opinion

I think that is intentional becasue not everyone can strafe jump accross the gap, in HLDM you had the Long jump whch made it possible.

Because when there are more than about 4 people in the map, you tend to spawn with nothing unless you have a lucky spawn near an item. The map is big enough for more people. If it is to become a competative map, it will need a few more weaps, nothing crazy though.

Cynips

2008-12-05 02:59:40

I hope this doesn't become a competitive map, because the general layout of steamlab sucks. And since this basically has the same layout I can't see how it could be much better. Almost everywhere you are, there are only really two options on where to go.

Paradox

2008-12-05 05:12:51

I didnt say it was going to be but I do know that there are some people that would like to see it as such.

well i played this map with 10 people and still enough weapons for me. i got hand it to ya that the map is a bit big but i think its a waste when ya put more weapons in

Paradox

It depends on whether some of the players are spawning and having a very hard time to find a decent weapon before they get killed again. I would have to play it more to be sure but it was one perception I had when I did play it.
