This same thing happened with TF2 as well when Valve were lagging behind with the sdk tools for TF2 mapping. Hell, I had a few customs out by the time the TF2 mapping tools were released lol. I say bravo for those that take the time to get these things working for mappers.

Valve's released first beta for L4D SDK tools.

/me why the #@$& did i have to go through this business. not a sec passed since i've gone through the whole install and now they release it. how ironic.

Looks very industrial. What type of overall theme are you going with?

i'm pretty much making it up as i go. but i'm restricting myself to the stock arsenal at least for now.
it's urban theme. but who knows... i've been eying that sexy train model. if i can get this working properly with a func_train this will inevitably lead to an out of town area. as i said...it's exploring atp.

one thing is made absolutely sure though: this Hammer isn't as 1000th as buggy as the ep1 Hammer. i'm proly going to start designing for ep1 games using the ep2 Hammer. then move it over to adjust and touchup. no crashes up til now at all. using over a gig of RAM with about 6-7 tasks running in the background (including win explorer, firefox with over 150MB consumption, uploading and downloading FTP, etc..) and 2 FULL Valve maps opened behind my map; hammer politely let me know he's having a hard time. but it didn't pull the plug or went mad.
.. this hammer is sweet.

you may run into some problems if you go from the ep2 hammer to the ep1 hammer. I had some issues regarding displacements and a few other things in some of my tf2 scrap maps that I moved over. Although, it is quite possible Valve has fixed that. I do know that the ep2 hammer has extra features for displacements and a few other things that could be of consern. I would hate to see you map something out in ep2 and then not have it work right with the ep1 tools lol. That would just suck.

just finished the first chapter this morning and playtested it online. this is sweet. nav editing is a bit of a pain in the neck but when it's working it sure is a joy.
hit me on steam if you wanna playtest.
once the campaign is complete i'll author vs and sv modes.
name is still an unknown and no point in deciding on one now before i do the Finale as campaign names seem to one way or another either hint at the finale/goal or describe the general environment of the campaign.

All n all, L4D SDK is sex on wings.

Looking good man. Pretty sure you added more light sources and the map looks much better from what I can see.
