Custom Textures.

Hey, I would need information on how to add custom textures to your maps. Sorry if I don't understand much, since I'm not good at mapping and the information is for a friend. He is not good at English, that's why I ask for it =P.
Do any of you happen to have a link with good information on how to do it? He tried lots of stuff but when I see his maps, the custom textures won't appear, just black and violet squares.

I'm assuming that the mapper can see the textures in hammer.

the mapper needs to pack the textures into the BSP file using packrat.

should work if you are using it correctly.

best way to check by yourself if custom textures etc have been included into your bsp: rename the folder(s) of the content u used!
Then start your map again: if they are still there everything is okay.
If there are red/pink squared faces and / or error symbols (for models..) it did not work.

This was the error he was getting.
He tried pakrat and nothing =(. Anyway, he might be making a mistake, so I Think he is gonna try again. Thx for the answers. ^^
