THINGS TO REMEMBER IF YOU'RE ENTERING

If you're entering this contest, you MUST have a PayPal account you can use to recieve any money you might win. If you don't you're disqualified and someone else gets the money.

You MUST NOT release the map you enter prior to the announcement of winners. If you do, you're disqualified.

You MUST NOT make your map with HDR or fullbright.

You MUST NOT just recreate another map, change another map, or anything like that. Your map MUST be a wholly-new map. This rule emphasizes the fact that this must be completely the product of your own creative abilities.

Just a few questions if you don't mind.
MondaySunshine wrote: F. Lighting (must be LDR, NOT HDR or fullbright)
Does this imply that only LDR can be used, ie we cannot have a map with LDR/HDR combo lightmaps?
MondaySunshine wrote: 13. This Contest is subject to all federal, state, and municipal laws.
I presume this competition is still open to non US residents?
MondaySunshine wrote: 18. Any participant who releases their map to any server (for purposes other than strictly private, only-you maptesting) prior to the announcement of winners will be disqualified.
By "only-you" does this mean we cannot gather a group of trusted people for full (private) playtesting?

Cheers!

Few things, the contest is open to non-US residents, I think holy made an extraneous rule there. Second is I would be OK with allowing mappers to open the map up to a very small, knowledgable group of people to help you playtest it. The point of the competition is to have the maps unreleased to the mass public, so should you be responsible for playtesting the map with any person that should release this map and make its way to the mass public you would be DQ'ed.

So it would be a bit of a gamble to do it but if you can trust them shoot for it but it remains at your own discretion to do it as long as you understand you can be DQ'ed if a "trusted" member leaks it. Your first question one is one I'll leave to holy, maybe he can talk about that with a mapper(s) before deciding.

One more thing I'd like to request a mod move this to the architecture forum. P.S. thanks holy!

It's possible to compile with just HDR.

HDR isn't worth the hassle or the extra filesize imo, but others might be considering using it so just wanted to get this clarified.

Keep in mind the donations will likely get a tad larger, and I may consider removing the third place prize pot and joining it to the 2nd place pot. Standing at $100 but will likely go up. Can someone please move this to the architecture forums?

agree. although...HDR is when the engine is running two passes: LDR AND HDR.
color correction is the shit tho. hope for dm in OB so i can use it and it stays lol. cc in ep1 is b0rked.

To clarify, for the reasons stated above, HDR will not be allowed. Use only LDR. HDR or fullbright maps will not be judged.

I'm assuming we want a map that runs 1v1 - 3v3?

It doesn't have to be 1v1 friendly, but should support competitive play (2v2 at the minimum).

That's pretty straightforward. Maybe it would be a good idea to send a PM back to confirm that they have. Alios Amigos!

How may my friend present his map on contest if he can't register on site?

Va|iums

2010-07-02 01:33:54

Hi Fenix,

Yes there are registration issues, and we have no idea when they will be fixed as the site admin is not really active. All the more reason we need to make a timely transition to the eFPS website ASAP when it goes up.

You may add me (v1sions on steam) or holymoly and we will post on hl2dmu for him when we present the maps. Keep in mind we will not be allowing the release of maps until we determine the winners.

If anyone was late on submitting because I havent been on steam or couldnt find Holymoly to send them to feel free to send them to me yet tonight or tomorrow. Part of it is my fault because I've been AFK with my friends for the 4th and will be throughout alot of today.

I can't set any firm dates quite yet for the results and judging...but I promise we will begin the judging very very soon.
