Spray lags my game :O

For about 2 months I couldnt launch hl2 without lagging hard time at launch, and once i'd join a game.

Same for TF2.

I'd also get massive slowdowns ingame.

I finally figured it out, CUSTOM SPRAY.

By hitting the console key by mistake I was horrified by what i saw.

Enough '' Failed to find vertex transparencies for conflictcustomspray.vmt'' in red text to fill out a .txt file up to 20 mb.

The game kept trying to find the godamn transparency layer or idk (don't ask me it doesn't make any sense)

I had sound looping for 30-40 seconds when joining a game and massive slowdowns in server list during refresh due to the game scanning my sray file endlessly. Removed spray and it works like a charm now D:

weird...I can't see any spray ..only if I use another account apart from the main one I use ...any idea? I think there is a problem with the files D:

Well, with CAL servers we cant see sprays , but if you cant see sprays on any server then try this : mp_decals 100 if that does not work then I have no idea.. D:

sv_pure 2 blocks sprays. Spose it's good for people not to be able to use decoy sprays?

hermmmmm, I thought that was a part of your fps config Onti. I can see sprays until I exec your fps enhancer... then no sprays.

It's a looong time since I don't need something like that by now ^^
Oh... and it was the server not me....

sv_pure 2 blocks sprays. Spose it's good for people not to be able to use decoy sprays?

Then that's it ....and it sucks lol ...what's the problem with sprays?

...sv_pure 2 there is really no reason to block sprays, although if Valve intended sv_pure 2 to be for competition, they could have been intentionally blocked to prevent decoy spray usage as I mentioned previously.

I'm pretty sure the point of sv_pure 2 was to block brightskins etc.

Block custom content I think would cover it. Now whether sprays should be considered custom content is debatable.

I think it depends on the user, I have wasted some ammo on those damn decoys, when you're rounding a corner mid-hop and you see a combine head you have to shoot, I hate that thing.

I had this exact problem a while back, was suffering 15 FPS on a fookin killbox of all maps when i checked console iit was constantly cycling missing texture..... again it was a pure 2 server but i had never played the map so ever download ed the missing texure but the others playing wiht me had played before so they saw the pink+black squares whereas i saw nothing.
