G5 + Exactmat

just bought an exactmat and my g5 skips when i do a 180 on the control and speed side. I use a low sensitivity so i really have to fling my mouse when i do a 180. I have updated my drivers and everything, still won't work.

I've read on google that a lot of people have 0 problems with the g5/exactmat, dunno why i am.

ideas?

If the G5 is new, just get a new one there's probably something wrong with it.

Also you might want to make sure that the 'laser hole' under your mouse is 100% clean. I had weird problem and a HAIR slipped into that small hole wich would cause the same problem happening at random moments. GL

The G5 is a true laser mouse not an optical mouse often called a laser mouse. It is well known that they do not do well under low sensitivity situations because the maximum acceleration can be exceeded and it will skip. The only solution is to buy a different mouse the MX518 is the current best Logitech offering and it was won some tests for maximum speed it can still track at.

Yeah also u can either increase sensitivity or increase pointer speed. I got mine on 7 point mark and found it more easier to start a bhop.

I'm using 0.63 sensitivity on 2000dpi. it's perfect and i'd rather not change it.

wow, that's a low sen, maybe you should swap it for a Razer Deathadder... as Fearsome stated laser mice are intended for high sen users, optical for low sen. (although the 3g lasers are a lot better than the 2g)

Fearsome is on the money about the g5 compare it to the mx518.

I think laser technology has improved sine the G5 becasue my G9 works great at 0.31 ingame sens@ 3200DPI.

Ah no wonder I dont notice then. I use high sensitivity. Optical feels like a jittery mess compared to laser for me.

This was a VERY informative read and quite eye opening. I'm now thinking of going back to a 518 after reading this, although I will be bummed about not having the tilting wheel that I have come to love on the G5.

If you don't read the article at least take a look at this clip, and you will get a good idea of what a real LOW sens player is actually doing. This is crazy but apparently quite effective for some http://www.esreality.com/files/movies/2 ... ing_06.avi

Don't rush back unless you are one of the few people that hits this limit and are sure you are not having some other problem (mouse pad surface is the most common) You have to move the mouse pretty fast to hit this limit. The G5 offers other advantages to the MX518 it has much better bigger and slicker mouse feet. It has the tilt wheel and the weights plus a faster USB polling rate. Also as stated the G9 makes improvements in this area.

On certain teflon based mouse surfaces I have tried, the weights are almost a necessity. If you load the mouse down with wieghts you can feel the difference in the way it reacts to you movements. It all comes down to personal preference, and Id rather have the option to try than not at all.

Having an option for the sake of having options thats a good one.

I like having weight to my mouse gives me feed back on how im moving but some players like it nice light and little its all about preference.

The weight seems to smooth things out a lot, at least for me. I guess one would not know the difference if not tried.
The ES article is a bit shocking. The Copperhead is really down that list of performance.
I guess there can be a lot of hype about "10,000"! dpi and such. Its probable that mice will never need any more rez than the current or even recent optics and lasers.

O M G :o
Thats exactly how I used to play quake, it worked very well for me.

Even now for hl2dm with .85 @ 1600 dpi seems a little to high, but I decided to stick with it.

haha that's really low, but yeah most really good gamers use a sens like that.

SND

2008-05-10 03:38:07

Yeah low sense and high dpi I find works well it better for the mouse to deal with the speed side of things than the in game sense.
currently i use 1 sens with 1800dpi which works out fine but never tried to use a sens below 1. I might do so but as they say if it ain't broke don't fix it.

0nti

2008-05-10 10:39:18

lol we use the same speed SND
I use 0.9 @ 2000 dpi.
D:
I won't try to go lower, unless I get a deathadder. I think my copperhead is already having trouble handly the low sens. :(

Zman42

2008-05-10 18:11:38

.305 @ 4000 dpi

Wow that vid of mew....opened my eyes, that is true low sense...I had some idea but :sketchy:

I've always felt I needed to go lower and use bigger movements....
