Yea well I have been asking for guide on how to set up a server sometime ago but still not much i have seen that help guys set up one. Anyway I came across a a web page that explains how to put up a source server. Hope some of u find it helpful. would be nice if the uni site make its own guide.

I just looked at the link, its for actually establishing a server on a box. I have no experience with this as I rent mine (my internet won't support hosting a server) and the server host takes care of that. However I did say I would write a section regarding setting up a CAL server for newer people as well as installing things like Mani, etc.

I have installed srcds on a linux server before. Most will not need to know how to do it however, and I would expect our course to cover more end-user type stuff. Valve has official instructions somewhere for that, so best leave that info to them I think.

HL2DM and CS:S should be hosted on Windows based servers. How many times has linux been fucked up due to Valves crappy bug testing.

Windows FTW in this situatuation, infact killercreation only use windows servers for source games.
