How do you calculate the Watts necessary for your system? I was looking at getting a 650W silverstone PSU, and want to know if its worth spending the extra money to go to a 1000W.

EDIT: Found this article gonna do my homework.

No. A 650 should be enough.

You should only go for the 1000W if u want to future proof your system and give u flexibility when upgrading leaving out the need to worry if that new hardware will need a new power supply.

I have the silverstone 650 and it is a very good psu. I have run a dual core, sli, xfi, rig with 4 hdd in raid 0 for 2 years without a blink, it should be fine for you.

I would go with a PSU with one large 12V rail rather than multiple smaller ones.
