No i dont i like made it 10000000, all that happens is it looks like shit and i get the same fps as when i put it on hgh settings which is like 70-90 sometimes lower. but im fine with it looking like shit as long as i get gud fps

what's wrong with 60fps? if you're on LCD you're most likely running 60hz anyway.

Lol not the point and im used to playing with waaay higher fps i have a 2 9800 gtx on my other comp. its just that im at my mom's house which has a shitty comp. and also has theese gay moments where i get like 25-30 fps randomly.

Basicly im running the game way high or way low i get the same fps (i never turn on hdr by the way)

I know this may sound stupid but have you put the graphics card setting to game setting rather than forced settings if there is not the option then you can drop all settings on the card low. Also don't have v-syc on. For your card should be hitting 250fps easy with the fps ehancer. if you card is set to run at high graphics the fps enhancer is going to work that well.

Make sure the CPU and GPU are not overheating, check for dust and crap.

If you are CPU limited you aren't going to get much more FPS with a better GPU in Source. Source engine is HEAVILY CPU dependent...so, either upgrade your CPU or overclock will give you the largest benefit.

performance issues are not related to "dust and crap". crashes and bsods ARE.

true but i doubt his pc is bottlenecked by his videocard... he has a 8500gt :D just tell us what cpu you got ownege.

An aside (and my point): FPS values are widely misunderstood and clearly overrated.
Only question you should bother yourself with is ARE YOU LAGGING LOCALLY?!!!
LAG can occur at high fps values and at the same time you can get super smooth play at super low fps values.
snap out of this relentless obsession with watching FPS people.

If you're lagging locally then you may have a problem HW / settings or driver related. this is all it's about.

I played and won multiple 2v2 rounds for cal on joyride with 25 fps. You definitely CAN play with 80 fps bud.

Valar may be right.
I get 600 fps easily, but in a local server. If not a local server I play at 150 - 450 fps. Makes a big diference. With all graphics minimum. Make sure you are not using v-sync. That takes it all away. It has been said already, if your monitor is at 60hz you have 60fps, etc, and can only get lower, not higher.

sorry mate but that is wrong. i have two machines with two monitors both at 60 and i can get up to 320 FPS ingame. it can get lower of course but no doubt your mon rr is not the bar for FPS.
unless i'm missing something...

well, I'm not the best person to talk about v-sync and monitor refresh rates, but my fps would go down to my rr when I turned it on. I once put the rr to 120 just to see what would happen and it went to 120 fps. This was the only test I ever made, so I can't say it's consistent. And then again, rr and v-s are not my specialty. I just got that conclusion.

v-sync should be off. i wasn't talking about it or referring to it. maybe that's where the confusion was? :D

Yes, Skaruts was stating that if he had his v-sync enabled then it would reduce/lock his FPS to his monitor refresh rate (commonly 60). which AFAIK is correct.
