Game stopped working.

Yeah hl2.exe blows now, every time I try and launch hl2dm, my screen settings change to 640x480 (for some reason) and I get an error message saying "hl2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to shut down), it's also one of those "send error report messages".

I've done pretty much everything, I've uninstalled steam and reinstalled it, along with hl2dm, I've done system restore which didn't work either, I took all my launch options out of properties, and still NOTHING.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try the OB mod, this is hl2dm's way of telling you its time to move on.

Yeah that doesn't work either.

What now eh.

I would try uninstalling your video driver through control panel add/remove, then install the driver again or the newer one.

I had a similar problem a while ago, I tried veryfying cache, deleting blob files, delting hl2dm folder you name it. Eventually it came down to corrupt gcf files, I deleted most of them and redownloaded them and it worked.
Probably not the solution you want but it worked for me.

Any idea where I can download said gcf files?

if you delete them, steam will auto dl them
the thing is if you deleted the game and re donwloaded it, you have already done this

I've done pretty much everything in my power, including deleting steam entirely and reinstalling.

You could try reinstalling all of your drivers
Or entirely reinstalling Windows

or reformatting your harddrive.

failing that, buy a new computer. You can run HL2DM off like a 300$ computer

Not really as alot of the gcf are shared. so for example "source sounds" wont get deleted if you still have HL2 or any of the episodes installed. It just deletes the "half-life 2 deathmatch.gcf"

you mean your shitty antivirus software, or am I misunderstanding you?

YOu should just get Avast, it's free and works well.
